  1. No. I do not believe that is in our formulary. I will inquire. Thank you.
  2. Any suggestions or hints would be much appreciated!! I have a patient with a reaction with blisters and oozing. This has happened before in the past. Today I used only alcohol swabs and an IV3000 dressing. I secured the edges with hydrocolloid. The dressing came loose almost immediately. How would you secure a dressing when the surrounding area is damp from drainage?
  3. 27 points a week minimum
  4. Hi,,, Need to get rid of the patient's edema using a three or four layer wrap. For the wound, an enzymatic debrider like Santyl, thick barrier cream to periwound, cover with hydrocolloid so that you can loosen the slough and clean it out. Once you have granulated tissue, change the hydrocolloid to an alignate. If you don't get rid of the edema and the slough, the wound will not heal.
  5. :redbeatheYou must get off the sugar merry go round. Fresh fruit and veggies, eggs, cheese, fish, meat, nuts, dark chocolate, whole grains (not wheat!!) Once you've got the drug, I mean sugar out of your system, you won't have such terrible cravings. If you don't have time to pack a lunch, which you really should do most days, then order burgers, etc without the bun. Carls Jr has a 7g carb burger that is delicioso!!
  6. Does this patient have lower extremity edema? This needs to be addressed foremost. Does the wound have slough? If so, Santyl to wound bed, calcium alginate, dsd.
  7. It really depends on the paperwork your company uses. I have worked for companies that have streamlined the paperwork and others where it is a nightmare!!! Another variable is whether you are doing starts or daily visits. Starts can take longer, but they count for more points. Daily visits sometimes can be done in as little time as 15 minutes, add the paperwork and it is much less than one hour. Travel takes a lot of my time. If you are only in a 5 mile radius, and you can see all your patients one after the other, I would think 8 hours a day for 7 patients would be reasonable,,,after you have become accustomed to the paperwork.
  8. I have two words for you,,,,,Home Health:igtsyt:
  9. I use a Tom Tom GPS. I don't know what I would do with out it! I wish I had a Palm! I carry a small drug guide in the side pocket of my bag and use Mosby's Handbook of Patient Teaching at home for patient teaching ideas.
  10. My question is, shouldn't there be a clean compartment and a dirty compartment? I don't see that with this bag.
