Hello all,
My name is Chris and I wanted to start a forum for anyone thinking about applying for the Polk state college nursing program starting in spring 2019. I am applying with a 3.25 overall GPA and a 3.0 pre-req GPA if I am adding that correctly. I plan to take my Teas in late August! I look forward to hearing from everyone. Good luck! :)

As long you are on the 3.0 range you have a good chance competing, just try sltonacore at high 70s or 80s you'll be fine

Hey there! My name's Makayla, I'll also be applying for spring. I've got a 4.0 in my overall and pre req's, and I scored an 86% on my TEAS. It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be, but I haven't taken Micro yet so I definitely struggled with the science. I think(if I'm doing the math correctly) I've got 126 points as far as their system goes. Does anyone know if we apply online or if we go in and do it with our advisers? Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

My name is Gina, I am also applying for the spring term 2019. I have a 3.77 overall, a 4.0 pre-req GPA, and a 78% on TEAS. I'm not happy with my score but the "time factor" of the test is very difficult for me. I thought about taking it again, but decided against it for many reasons. I'm praying that I can get in with what I have. I looked up the application info; it is as follows:
Admission Criteria
The application for admission to the Nursing Program must be submitted to the Polk State College Admission Office during the appropriate application period. The two periods are:
May 15 to May 30 for the August class.
September 1 to September 15 for the January class.
Applications are not available until the application period. During the application period, applications are available in the Student Services Office at each campus and center, and on the Nursing Program website at Accredited Degree Programs | College of Nursing | Polk State College. All transcripts, required test scores, and any other documentation required in the admissions process must be submitted at the time of application for the application to be considered complete and eligible for consideration.
Anyone who applies but is not accepted for admission must reapply for consideration during future application periods. There is no waiting list. Students should have prerequisite courses completed or be enrolled in final prerequisite course(s) when applying

Hey everyone! My name is Josh and I am looking to apply for the Spring 2019 cohort, as well. My overall GPA is 2.98 and my prereqs GPA is 3.54 (if my humanities doesn't transfer from my Bachelor's, otherwise it will be a 3.48) and I scored a 92% on the TEAS. I think that would put my points at 128.6 (128.3 if they count my humanities). I don't know what a competitive score is as I just looked into this school about an hour ago. Does anyone else know? It looks like they accept 100 students into the program each term, but I don't know how many applications they receive.
I am really interested in the ADN/BSN concurrent enrollment! It would be nice to be able to finish up my BSN right after and not have to take another year or two to earn that.
I wish everyone good luck! And Chris, if you have any questions about the TEAS, just let me know.
I think you all that have points in the high 120's are golden! Mine isn't as high, but I'm hopeful.
Good luck to all.

Your score is about 116, right? That should be pretty competitive. I think I read that someone who applied for this fall got in with a 113-116 score.

Hello! I am applying to Polk State College for the Spring 2019 semester as well. I have a 3.83 overall GPA, 3.7 pre-requisite GPA and a 79 on my TEAS exam. Being out of school for 4 years made taking the TEAS a little more challenging than I had thought it would. Hoping my grades make up for it. I all ready have a bachelor's degree in Science and Technology. I think my overall score is 120.5 if I'm adding correctly. Good luck to all!
120 is a pretty competitive score, based on what I've read! Good luck!
I need to recalculate my points, but it's either 116 or 118. Thank you for the positive remark. I'm praying.
I think the equation for points is:
TEAS Score + (5 x Prereq GPA) + (5 x Overall GPA) + (2 points for Associates or 4 points for Bachelors or 6 points for Masters)
