Hello I'm a polish nurse. I've worked for 2 months only, so I'm newly qualified nurse.
I would like to work as a nurse in England so I'm in the middle of registrating process in NMC.
I know nothing about working as nurse in England...I heard that the nurses in Uk when they finish University have deegre or diploma?
What does it mean? I'm master in science in nursing, so when I'll start work I'll be "staff nurse". Could someone explain how this titles "work" in UK?
I'm sorry for mistakes, but I'm still learning english (it's very difficult to learn it when you're in Poland ;)
As a new grad you will start as a staff nurse (band 5) regardless of your qualifications, you will need to have a very good understanding of both written and spoken English to be able to register with the NMC.If you check out the department of health website under agenda for change you will see the pay rates for nurses.
Hello, I'm new here. I am a Polish nurse with Diploma (Study 5-year in Poland). I worked as a nurse for 8 years in Poland, then in Germany 7 years (Recognized as a nurse in Germany). Now I live in UK, Wales and looking for a job as a nurse. What I need to do for my Diploma Recognised in the UK?
Or maybe my many years of experience is enough? Can you help me? Thanks!
Hi Rainbow Owl, firstly you will probably find most of the answers you need here
http://www.nmc-uk.org/Documents/Registration/Registration%20information%20trained%20in%20Europe.pdf
Most important bits for you are:
The European Union (EU) has agreed the minimum standards that nurses responsible forgeneral care (adult nursing in the UK) and midwives must meet in order to be eligible to
register as a nurse responsible for general care or as a midwife. These are set out in the
Recognition of Professional Qualifications Directive 2005/36/EC (the Directive).
When countries join the EU, they have to make sure that their general nursing and
midwifery training programmes meet the minimum standards set out in the Directive. If
your qualification was awarded before the date that this was established for general
nursing (29 June 1979) or midwifery (23 January 1983) or before the reference date for
when your country implemented the EU standards then you will not meet the requirements
for automatic recognition of your qualification.
Automatic recognition for Poland was in 2004 so if you were qualified after this you should be able to apply for automatic recognition. The title of qualifications that meet the automatic recognition criteria are:
1. Dyplom ukończenia studiówwyższych na kierunku pielęgniarstwo
z tytułem 'magister
pielęgniarstwa'
2. Dyplom ukończenia studiów wyższych
zawodowych na kierunku/specjalności
pielęgniarstwo z tytułem "licencjat
pielęgniarstwa
Contact the NMC, the details will be on their website: http://www.nmc-uk.org they will be able to tell you what you need to do to register.
If you are able to register, NHS jobs are advertised on the NHS jobs website, here is a search for Nurses in Wales.
Birmingham?
Check out the new University hospital (Queen Elizabeth).
Its huge, and has a big ITU, regional trauma and burns units.
They employ a lot of nurses from the Phillipines, so are familiar with adaptation courses.
Best of luck!
