PNCB CPNP-PC exam failed. Need guidance!

Hi everyone, I just took my PNP-PC exam through PNCB today and failed. I did the Barkley audio home review along with questions from the Pediatric Nurse Praftitiner Certification Review guide by Joanne Silbert-Flagg and Elizabeth D. Sloand.

I also took both pncb practice exams and 1 DRT practice exam from Barkley.

I felt pretty good going into the exam but the questions I guess were more in depth than I thought they’d be.

If anyone who has failed then passed or passed has any advice it would be appreciated. I’m feeling very disappointed and discourage and that I’ve let my family down as I had a job lined up and everything.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all. I too took the PNCB exam and failed. It’s totally devastating. It’s nice that there is support available on here. Any suggestions for the second time around? I did Barkley audio and reviewed Barkley’s study guide and I felt the questions on the exam were much harder and more in depth. I had a lot of antibiotic and pathogen questions. I took 2 DRTs and scored 70 and a 53 on 1 of the PNCB practice tests. I did everything my classmates did and still didn’t pass and they did. Feeling really down.

PC. Thanks.. right now it feels like an uphill battle and now I feel like a head cAse.. like what if I don’t pass again etc. so depressing!

Okay I’m taking the AC exam soon but please refer to the thread because a lot of people have taken the PC Exam and have some good pointers!

I know it must feel depressing and I don’t know you from Adam but what I do know is that we as humans have a way of regrouping, reorganizing and giving things another try .. you can do it allow yourself to be sad that’s normal but then get back to studying focusing on what you remember being areas that you needed to improve on for what was actually on the test.

good luck and keep me posted ! I would love to hear about you passing because you will!

Nursedees,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I hope that you are able to find those notes that you need.

Happy Studying!

Not me. I used the barkley's home study course BUT would not use it again.

I took the PC exam. Here are the items that were helpful:

these videos - use the 2020 versions if available - if not, use the latest version available: Watch chapters 1,2,3,4,5 antibiotics, adolescent medicine, hematology - anemias especially - and as you need.

Also, this was very helpful - I actually found this somewhere on this forum:

https://pedclerk.bsd.uchicago.edu/

Go through all the systems that you need - you can confirm the medications with the Burns Book or UpToDate or your choice of reference material.

Finally, this last video is also good for dermatology, especially the rashes - I found it a few years back but could help you:

Good luck - whichever test you are taking.

Thanks so much!

I can't find the antibiotics one? Is it the one labeled Antibiotics "Pediatric Infectious Diseases?"

yes, that is the antibiotics video:

Immunizations: all 8 pages - study in detail

All of the above are some of the resources I used as well as the PNCB practice questions (I did both), Burns (Blue Book - used the tables to review/refresh on clinical presentation, diagnostics and management of various conditions).

Please feel free to use your own notes and other resources to get you to where you feel comfortable to go in for the test. Don't forget to download and use the PNCB study guide. Good luck.

Hi everyone! I posted a few months ago (July) that I did not pass my first attempt. I am approaching my second attempt date and just wondering if there were any last minute suggestions? I am taking the NAPNAP virtual course this weekend before the exam. I read the blue flagg book front to back and I have been doing practice questions from the flagg book, nursing study prep, and a little of board vitals.
