Pnap/vrp work restriction HELP

Nurses Recovery

Published

Hi all,

on here to vent and/or get advice. I have been enrolled in the Pnap/phmp/vrp program since January 2012 when I started receiving my first random urines. I am working as a nurse case manager for an insurance company. My recovery and employment and life in General has been squeaky clean with no issues. My job lets us work from home, however, it is a work restriction and vrp says I can't. My understanding of the program is that is for 3 years. As I started my Pnap contract and urine testing in January 2012, it was my understanding that I would be done in January 2015. When I contacted my Pnap case manager today she informed me that my contract with vrp actually didn't start until April 2012 and that is when I can petition for release from the program which apparently can take months. I am on top of a list to go work from home and now this news hits and I don't know what to do. They said I can get a lawyer involved but that runs the risk of getting marks on my license so I won't do that. I previously wrote letters and sent the along with letters from my ion program and my supervisor asking to be allowed to work from home and was denied. I really don't know what, if anything, there is I can do. I am so frustrated. I have completely changed my life and no one cares at all that this is holding me back in a lot of ways. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Please email me my phone droid keyboard does not work well on this site and I have a lot to share with you re PNAP/VRP/PHMP [email protected].

I found out through my counselor that your 3 years doesn't start until the BON officially validates your consent agreement not when you signed the agreement or when you started your drug screens. After 3 years from that date you do have to petition the board and that could take around 3 more months to get approval. So in reality you really are under their control for at least 3 1/2 years. Be grateful that you have found employment. I have been unemployed since January 2013 despite applying for more jobs that I can count .

I just signed my contract with pnap, I currently work in home care for a few different agencies. Has anyone continued working without notifying their employer? Did they get caught? Tell me you experience with this

I only know this from what others have posted, but usually it sounds like you have to get work reports from your supervisor

Hello1974 - I don't know anyone who has done that and would strongly discourage u from doing so. It would be utterly dishonest. Not to mention the consequences you would have if caught.

I would also like to add that it only took 3 weeks from the time I signed my petition to the time I was released.

Hello Everyones,

I am going to be new to PNAP (have not started yet, being forced to as a result of applying to another state), at any rate..does PNAP always make you stop working for a period of time when you start?

Thanks for the insight! It is going to be a rough road..

June2009,

I would appreciate any tips you may have as to how to make PNAP life easier.. I will only be beginning this 5 year journey and my life is upside down.

Thanks!
