PN Graudate Need Advice on Retaking NCLEX

Published

I have been a graduate Pratical Nurse about 5 years ago, I took the NCLEX-PN and failed. After two years I decided to try my luck for the second time. I have submitted all my paper works with the Board of Nursing and paid to take the test. Before I can schedule to take the test, I get sick and has been in and out of hospital. Now, I am planning to take the NCLEX-PN again. Anyone have an info, if my application to the Board of Nursing is still valid or do I have to do all the paper works all over again? Do I need a refresher course?:sniff::confused: Is there new info on NCLEX test? Any advice is highly appreciated.

You will probably have to take a refresher course in order to retake your boards, or even go back to school and start all over. I know, in Georgia, you are only allowed to take the test so many times then you have to go through the nursing program all over again. Here's my advice. Get in touch with your state nursing board, you can look their address up online and email them, and just ask them what the rules and regulations are. Tell them your situation and they will reply. Or, you could give them a call. They will be able to tell you exactly what you need to do. Quite a bit has changed in five years, since you graduated so a refresher course wouldn't be a bad idea. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

:welcome: Welcome to our forums!

Your post has been moved to the NCLEX Discussion forum for more responses. It would also be greatly helpful if we knew your state of residence, since different BONs have different rules. In my state of residence (Texas), you only have 4 years after graduation to take NCLEX. During this 4 year time frame, the applicant may take NCLEX an unlimited number of times.

i think you definitely need to prepare. I have posted suggestions about prep, repeating the test, and confidence- building. It is not a question of luck- it is about the preparation you undertake. Best wishes!

I surely like take all the help I can get, If you don't mind my asking , can you give me the link of your "suggestions about prep, repeating the test, and confidence- building." please? :) Thanks
