Pn-aas,please Read!

I am starting a school in Minnesota (Northland Community and Technical College other wise known as Northwest Technical College (NWTC). This school offers the book work part of the learning to be via distance learning. They require all the nessicary visits for the hands on skills training. And of course the clinicals. The ammount of clinical hours is like 5 times more then what the state requires. Is this what most schools require?

They have both Practical Nursing diploma programs,As well as Practical Nursing-Asociate Applied Science degree programs. The PN diploma program is a 56 credit program and the PN-AAS degree program is 64 credits. The PN-AAS is part time and it lasts for 3 years,That is including the clinical part of the training. Is this a long time? How long are similar programs in IL? Is 15 grand to much for pn-aas training? This would include everything (books, state testing fees, uniforms and anything else needed for training).

Thank you in advance to all the nice folks that take the time to read my post.

I don't know about *initial* licensing in IL, but I can tell you one thing.

If I were doing distance learning, I would get my initial license in a state that is part of the nurse compact.

I have looked into getting my RN licensure by endorsement from IL and it takes six to eight WEEKS.....not worth the trouble.

I can't speak to your specific situation, though, because I attended classes and clinicals. Don't know much about the distance thing but I'd avoid IL like the plague.....JMO.

I am not goint to attend NWTC after I discovered DCN in Saint Louis,But I do very much appericate you'r responce.

I think you solved your problem,, but in IL,, it only takes 66 credit hours to obtain a AAS-RN so why would you contemplate a PN? 2 credit hours,, thats it,, go for the RN.
