Hi all-
Hoping for some guidance after unsuccessfully taking the ANCC psychiatric nurse practitioner exam this week. I needed a 350 to pass and unfortunately earned a 345 and fell short. Needless to say I am very discouraged and feeling down on myself especially because I have a job waiting for me. I studied from the ANCC manual and felt the questions were very heavily weighted on case management and human resource type questions such as solving disputes as a nurse manager. I was prepared for an exam much more weighted on meds and intervention. Hence, I scored high in individual competencies and low in foundations of advanced practiced nursing.
I Was wondering if anyone had passed this exam and had advice on how to better study for the topics that are less objective and more based on subjective reasoning. I am planning to retest in end of August but I am very nervous about failing again and don't know how to study "foundations"
any help is greatly appreciated!

IMO, the test is super easy and does not test the essential knowledge. Almost everyone passed the first time. The person I know that failed the first time passed the 2nd time. You will pass if you take it again. If this job let you ago, you will find another one. Jobs are much harder to find now in the city b/c of new grads & local schools but there are always jobs in rural areas. My advice is to do the ANCC "50 practice questions" online and you will be just fine. Lots of content came from there.

Hi there, I was wondering if you were able to pass the test. I took the PMHNP test recently failed. I scored 340, and need 350 to pass. I also scored low on the "foundations for advanced practice nursing" and high on the "independent practice competencies". Can anyone provide any guidance? I studies from the ANCC review book and did the 5 sets of the practice questions from the anccprep.com
Thank You

I realize this is a dated post, but I too failed first attempt.
Did you eventually end up passing your exam?
If so, how or what did you study differently.
My difficulty were the case management questions as well. Thank you
