Your Masters thesis is an example of your individual work and contribution to your specialty.

Short answer, Have you spoken with your advisor about potential topics?

Long answer, please speak with your advisor.

You are going to live and breathe this subject for some time.

Here are two different approaches you could try:

1) What are you passionate about? What issue do you always gripe/rant, obscess about etc. If you care about a topic deeply, it's easier to spend a lot of time with it. If it's not a nursing topic, think about how it would have implications for nursing. (Ex, if you love ATVs, what kinds of primary prevention should the nurse initiate in the ER. . . well, you get my drift.)

or

2) Review the different research topics that your instructors have done. Where are the interestas at your school. Where would you get a lot of support?

good luck!

I agree with the responses of the previous responders. I understand what you are going through, I'm in the same boat, masters program and full time work. Your thesis is just that...yours.

Surely if you are at the point of deciding on your thesis, you have had preparation through your coursework. What do you hope to learn through your thesis, it is not just an exercise in futility, you should be applying your knowledge and synthesizing it into a scholarly product that sums up your learning. What objectives have you set for the process, how to you plan to go about meeting the objectives, what resources will you need, etc. What outcome will you demonstrate though the production of the thesis. Just some thoughts that might help lead you to your own answer. It does have to come from within you.

My program requires us to design our practicum, set up a mentor relationship and develop a professional portfolio rather than produce a thesis. I am setting up my goals and objectives currently.

Keep us posted on your progress/ choice of topic.
