you know what i noticed, whenever there's a title "ls1, ls2; ls3" only couple people respond... i know most of us here are in the "cpne club" but let's make an effort and support the new students, look at it this way "nursemomma" last post has over 30 replies she responded to all of our questions... she could have be well time to study for nclex and forget about us....but didn't so let's take her as an example and support the newbies :)
let's all support each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i know i am guilty i will just give a kuddo and not post a comment, from now on will post one.
Try NPAC, that would be nice if you can get a date with me and Beachie :)
I would LOVE to, but I think your weekend is full. I have to admit, that would have been amazing You guys are quite a bit a head of me study wise. I think it would be hard for me to catch up at this point, although I can really focus when I get my game on. If I could have got done in Sept I would have avoided renewing my LPN License, Excelsior $450 annual tuition, and renewing my physical for CPNE which apparently expires 9/23 (that was the mystery date on my app Beachie). Hmm, which would probably be wash for airfare. Hmmm......

Maybe call them and see if you can get a cancellation date at some point, if you are going to transfer to NPAC I know they have some because they called and offered me one yesterday. I had to renew my LPN license last month actually... but even after we PASS (positive thinking ) in September... our grad date isn't until Nov 18... so no NCLEX until November for me anyways.
I would hate to see you wait all the way until November but honestly, I got my date in May, and have been studying almost each day ever since, and I am personally happy I will have had 4 months to prep by the time I get to New york... it might be different if I didn't work, didn't have a small child (he stays home w/me when I'm not at work too so quiet time is very little) and had more time to dedicate to it... but I know you work also and have kids so having your normal life stressors plus this is a bit overwhelming at most times and I feel like when EC recommends atleast 3 months they are pretty spot on.
I have been friends with my study buddies for months, but I have only practiced lab sims together once, I am usually alone when I practice. Yesterday the three of us got together and we really started grading each other, one was the examiner with the scoring sheet and the other was the student, and we timed each other... we were all looking over each other's shoulders just to add the nervous factor in, and all of our hands were shaking!

Thanks so much for the insight Beachie. I have to ask, what is this Grad Date business? I thought I remember reading that once you pass CPNE, and your status is updated that you could take your boards as soon as your state would allow (MN is 2 weeks I hear). Oh my goodness!! Another 2 months would put me to taking boards in January!
I love to hear how you guys are studying!!! You are having your own mini-workshop! Good job guys!!
I think October would be perfect, and I think you are right about needing at least 3 months. I have no idea how quickly I am going to grasp some of this. It has been 15 years (this week exactly!) since I have worked on the floor as a LPN. I am limited as to what I can practice on the job (but man, my aseptic technique should be fab! lol...) I am also happy to see you guys throwing up your questions for CPNE on our distance learning board, but I am jealous that I am not that far yet in the content guide!!
It depends on the state as far as when you can take NCLEX. In Virginia, they only required that I tell them my grad date, and EC sent my transcripts to the BON and I was good to go. I took my NCLEX a week before my grad date. Other states require the grad date to come and go before a GN can take boards.

I live in Louisiana Lunah. How do I find this out for my state? SBON? Oh and for your 20 min checks, did you check turgor too... basically do the whole fld mgmt mneumonic? Thanks!!

Okay, that sounds familiar...I know MN is one of the states that allow you take your NCLEX and not wait. Most take it within 2 weeks of their status update. What does the Graduation date from Excelsior mean? My tuition is usually due around October 9, so even if I pushed myself to take my CPNE in early Sept, I would still probably end up paying my tuition again because of this 2 month post CPNE graduation date?

I believe the person that guided me toward this original info called the MN state board of nursing, so that would be my best guess.

They have a grid with conferral dates on it. For my grad date, the CPNE cut off is Sept 30th... so it's like 6-8 weeks from the time you complete your last requirement. I have to call the BON in FL, I heard from two EC grads that they require to actually hold the diploma in their hand before you can test :-P
You might be better off not having worked on the floor though, for me I have to catch myself of doing things my own way, taking short cuts and I have stop myself and correct them. Yesterday for instance when I was practicing my lab station, my one friend was the examiner and I looked at the paper and said "I am going to give 2 ml of medication" and just wrote it in the box... and he's like "where did you get that answer?" I was like DARN IT..... no math in the head... it's just little things like that... I have to tell myself to sloooow down!!!

Yep, check with your BON. And I did include turgor in my 20 minute checks -- it just takes a second to do, and fits well with that area. :)

If you've completed all the requirements for graduation, EC should waive the annual fee. I completed my CPNE on June 15, and my grad date was August 15. However, my annual enrollment fee was due in July, but because I was done and awaiting graduation, it was waived.
