My there !
My name is Alunanebuna and i`m still in secondary school in my home country, Romania.
After i will graduate, in september 2011, I want to apply to a college, for a Aduld Nursing DipHe.
i will graduate in september 2014.
I recently readed this information :
Nursing is Changing!
We are very pleased to tell you that from September 2012 we will be introducing our new degree course in nursing. This follows on from a decision by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) - our national statutory body - that nursing will be a degree entry profession by 2015.
It does mean that our last intake for the Diploma/BSc programme will be in September 2011 (It is still to be decided if we will have an intake in January 2012) and people on this course will be able to register as nurses on completion. Details of this programme can be found on this website and in our current prospectus.
The introduction of the new degree course (which will be available for all branches of nursing) comes with a new set of entry requirements and could also affect the NHS bursary scheme for nursing students. Details of any changes to the NHS bursary scheme are expected to be released in 2010 and once we have these details we will post them on this page.
This is an information from Notthingham University web site.
And my question is :
I will graduate the college in 2014 in Romania, and, at the beggining of 2015, I will have all my papers ready and I will want to apply for the PIN number, to register like a RN in UK.
My english it`s not very very good, so I`m not sure if I still can apply in 2015 and get the PIN number if i dont have a degree in nursing. I sent some emails to NMC, but still no answer. Please, if you can help me.
PS : please escuse my english ... i try all my best

We don't know what will happen in a few years time. I suggest you wait and see once you have completed your training. Have you been accepted in the UK to be a nurse student? I would be surprised because not many universities will take International nurse students because of the way the UK funds nurse training.
Silverdragon102 Thanks for your answer !
i didn`t apply to be a student nurse in UK. I want to apply to a college here in Romania, in my home country.
After I will graduate, I want to register with NMC from UK to get my PIN and to work in UK like a Nurse.
My only problem it`s that i recently readed that from 2015, Nursing will be a degree entry proffesion BY 2015. So, in 2015 if I will have a Dipploma in Higher Education in Nursins, I`m not sure if I will qualify. This is my dilema
It was announced on the UK news last year about the changes and if the changes go ahead it will affect everyone. The only real test is once you have qualified, this is a link to the NMC and trained within the EU Trained in Europe | Nursing and Midwifery Council
Thank you a lot !
i really hope that I will get the PIN number with my Diploma in 2015. Also, I sent an email to RMC, but still no answer. Its really a shame because we dont have more informations. Because, after I will graduate in 2015 the college, and if I cant get the PIN no in UK, after that I must to try to do a degree in nursing in UK. I really dont know what to do

Alunanebuna until you have the actual nursing qualification the NMC are not going to be able to let you know if you meet the criteria for admission to the register, having said that if you do train within Europe then you have a good chance because of the reciprocal agreements within the EU.
The NMC website states:
If you received your training in and you are a national of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden or Switzerland, you are eligible to apply through the EU route of registration.

What I would advise, and strongly advise is that you work on your spoken and written English. You will not be able to work as a nurse in the UK unless you are able to demonstrate that you are able to understand and communicate to a high level in English.
Under EU law the NMC cannot require evidence of your ability to communicate in Englishfor the purposes of registration. However, you need to make sure that you have sufficientknowledge of English in order to practise professionally (Article 53 of the Directive).Employers will expect this and have the right to require evidence of English languagecompetence to ensure that they employ nurses and midwives who are able to communicateeffectively. Therefore it is possible that any offer of employment in the UK may dependupon you being able to demonstrate competence in the English language through a test.We strongly advise you to make use of the Europass Language Passport. This is a selfassessmenttool that enables you to assess your proficiency in understanding, speakingand writing any European language. Employers in the UK will expect that you will beproficient at level C1. You can find all the information about the Europass Language Passport at Europass - Promoting Transparency of Qualifications in Europe.
