i have been in the industry for over 15 years..labor and delivery and also NICU RN.
i love my work so much. however, i have maxed out on this path. I love working with my mamas and i need more, i feel i am not growing anymore as a staff labor RN. I am going to be 40 next year-whoa- and i feel with my experience and passion for midwifery..well perhaps i need to make this change!
i am currently deciding if i should enter the Frontier CNEP masters midwifery program.
i am concerned about finding a job after graduating. is it very competitive? are new grads finding work? i know new grad RNs are having trouble finding work, but is this the same in the midwife industry?
I think it all depends on the area you live in. Around here (Michigan)....midwives have told me it's not too difficult and that it's better if you know people, so start networking!
