OK, this is the problem. I feel like I have a horrible "kink" in my lumber sacral area. IT feels like if I could just "crack" this joiunt, I would be fine!

However, the pain of trying to do so is exquisite! I had one of the aides who used to be a PT assisstant crack me, but it only cracked my upper back, felt good though, but not the right spot.

She showed me some exercises to do, but it hurts so much just trying to get into that position, I can't do it. I think part of my problem is that I am kind of afraid that this will be such a huge "crack" of a joint, it made hurt really bad. IT was so bad this am I could hardly get out of bed. And sitting forward in my seat at the computer is killing me.

Any ideas? My R hand is numb since I just got up, so excuse the typos! I need help fast! Ya think I need a chiro? I KNOW it's not covered by my insurance, how much is it usually for a first time eval and x-rays which I know they will insist on?

Oh PLEASE give me some good manuever or exercise. I'm gonna go OD on motrin now. HELP!!!!!!

Well then I'll have to see "Shallow Hal". The exercises do only temporarily alleviate the pain. That is an important point and one I forget too often. So here is how I keep myself upright. This is a program that if I follow it never fails.

At least 3 days a week I do this set of stretches. I start sitting in the floor with my legs extended. I lean forward with the thought of puttine my chest on my thighs, concentrate on my breathing and relaxing my muscles. The breathing is THE thing.

Next spread my legs as wide apart as they will go and try to touch my chest to the floor. (Again with the breathing thing.) Finally, while still spread out I try to touch my chest to each thigh.

I hold each stretch position for a minimum of 20 seconds by using a watch to time myself. After an acute episode this hurts like hell the first few times. Ibuprofen keeps the audible cursing to a minimum.

Good luck, and keep us informed, Gary

YES! I cracked it!

Thanks for the link DN.

I want to tell you how I did it in case it helps any of you.

I was sitting in my rocking chair, yeah I know, like a little old lady, right?! I had a pillow behind the small of my back. I was still feeling all kinked, and I reached both my arms up and clasped the on top of my head. I was sitting like that for a few seconds, that CRACK! It felt soooo good. So I reached my hands even further behind the top of the chair back, and I cracked my vertebrae like dominoes! Oh YEAH!

Unfortunately, the relief is temporary, so I will have to go to the doc now!

Anyway, wanted to share that trick, discovered quite by accident, it feels really good.

Ask your physician about BOTOX treatment. See study reported in NEUROLOGY.
