Please HELP I really need Advice!!!!!!!!!

Published

Hi everyone! Gotta a question, first of all i know the nclex is totally indivdualized so nobody's test is alike. But i would like to know if there is anyone who has passed or know someone who has passed and did not get a lot of medication questions. I know alot of people hate med quest and i am one of them. My friend found out she passed today and she said she had tons of med quest. That scares me. Also anyone you has failed the first time even though you really thought you were prepared? But passed the second time? I did not pass my first attempt but i felt pretty prepared, studied long hrs really hard but i did not pass. I think it was my lack of faith and confidence. Any advice? Please Help! I don't want to fail again. Do you think lack of faith and confidence could cause failure no matter how much you know?

It does vary and I can not remember getting many medication questions at all. NCLEX is a hard one to think you are prepared for.

Good luck

There are quite a few that do not get any medications questions; however, you need to be aware that the exam will focus on your weaker areas.

Best of luck to you.

Medications are one of the most important areas of nursing, and they are something that you are going to be dealing with on a daily basis throughout your entire career.

If weak in meds, then definitely spend more time in that area.

I only have one medication question, which I totally don't know nor remember. I haven't come across with those medication choices before. I have 4 SATA and three out of this world drug computation. . My computer stopped at question number 77. But thanks be to God that I passed. May God Bless your coming exam. I'll pray for you. It helped me a lot during my agony in taking the test and while waiting the result. All the other type of questions are already in the review book. Just keep on reviewing all those questions, the concepts are just the same presented into a question differently. Go! I know you can do it too.

Thank you so much, i really appreciate the advice. I do believe prayer and faith (with some knowledge of course) is the answer. Thanks again

You should get between 13-19% med questions. So if you finish @ 75 questions, you would see between 10-14 med questions.

I had about 7 med questions. My test was 75 questions long, and two of my meds were in the very beginning, one in the middle which was a SATA, and the last 4 right in a row and were the last 4 questions of my exam..I guess that means I got them all wrong?

Out of the 7 questions, I was only familiar w/three of the meds, the other 4 I never saw before. You would think that nclex would focus on the most common meds or the meds with super serious side effects. Oh wait, that would make it too easy! Besides reviewing common meds (antibiotics, heparin, coumadin, dig, insulins) I really feel it's impossible to be prepared for the med questions. One of the meds I was tested on we never learned in school, but it seems like every time I turn on the TV there is another commercial for it. I was thinking to myself "thank god I watch a lot of TV!" One of my friends who also had 75 questions had 5 meds, the other girl I know had 75 questions and she said she had a million meds that she never heard of.

Before you start the test, say a quick prayer and realize that you've done everything you could do to prepare for this exam. After I finished the tutorial I took a deep breath and wrote on my dry erase board "you can do this!" When you see a med/disease you have never heard of don't freak out. Just try to take the best possible guess and realize it's only one question and move on! Take your time w/each question. We all make stupid mistakes, but those stupid mistakes do add up! Do NOT go into that test thinking you are going to fail. YOU WILL PASS.

If you don't mid me asking how are you preparing this time? Did you take Kaplan? Or I've read so many wonderful things about Suzanne's Plan. When are you taking the nclex? I really think in order to succeed on this exam you need to have a structured study plan and study every single day, even if it's just 10 questions. You can do it! :icon_hug:

Hi. I took the NCLEX-RN yesterday and I only had maybe three med questions, NO dosage questions at all, and the med questions were about adverse effects and allergies, etc...nothing straight forward.

Hi. I took the NCLEX-RN yesterday and I only had maybe three med questions, NO dosage questions at all, and the med questions were about adverse effects and allergies, etc...nothing straight forward.

I took my NCLEX yesterday also and had quite a few med questions and like you, octoberbride, my med questions were adverse effects and teaching and these were on some drugs I never heard of. I also had about 10-15 SATA questions. I stopped at 75 questions. I feel like I didn't know hardly any answers. Hopefully I will get my results back tomorrow. I am so scared to look at my results though.

Does everybody feel that way when you walk out of that test. Like you bombed it.

I did well on the exit HESI and scored well on all my Kaplan question trainers but man if feels like nothing prepares you for the NCLEX.

Hi there, first off thanks so much for the advice and all your comments. I did the Hurst review prior to testing the 1st time but failed the exam badly. However, i feel like i learned so much and some of what i learned from the reveiw appeared on my test so i thought i knew it. I really liked her review and am currently using it again. This time it is way more intense. She requires so much more this go round than the first time. Its a remedial review, a lot of repitition. She thinks i may have just studied the wrong way. I am one of those people who have to study really hard just to pull off a "B". Although i made all A's and B's in nursing school but i worked my butt off to get it. Also my friend and i just went half on a Kaplan book out of bookstore, she has it right now b/c she just tested. But the little i did of it seemed very informative. I did not take the Kaplan course we just bought the book. And i totally agree with you about if you think you will fail. YOU WILL. Because that's the feeling and attitude i had the entire time coming up to my test and i really don't know why. I wanted to pass, i prayed about it but a part of me just kept saying you are not going to pass this extremely hard test the 1st time. But my entire attitude has changed. I KNOW I CAN PASS THIS TEST, AND I WILL PASS THIS TEST. Thanks again for responding, and if you have any more advice it would be greatly appreciated. Oh and i have studied every since graduation 5/10/08 and i mean down right studying. Maybe i'm not studying the right way.

Yea i hear everyone say they come out feeling like they failed it, and many times they pass. however, i did not pass but i am studying my butt off but your right no amount of studying can prepare you for this test. Good luck i really hope you passed. Im sure you did!!!
