Please help i hate nursing so bad!!!

Published

Hello, I am 20 about to be 21 in two months. When I was 18 I went through a really rough patch and my mom did me a favor and she took out a loan so I can go to nursing school so I can have a shot at having a future. In my state if you are under 24 a gaurdian must sign a loan you cant do it strictly under your name. So I start nursing school in 6 days but I absolutely hate the medical field and having a medical job seems like the worst form of torture to me. Blood freaks me out, Im terrified of germs, I had an HORRIFFIC experience at a clinic that disgusted me with doctors and nurses since they treated me so horribly. ( I dont want to tell the whole story but it was awful and if I had the money I would sue the practice for what they did to me!) I am also afraid of putting a catheter in someone. It is a year long program so I just want this year to be over so I can graduate and maybe have a shot at going to a university and doing something else. Can anyone give me any tips on making nursing school more bearable?

Don't go to nursing school just yet! No offense to you, and hoping not to invoke the personal attack rule, but you are not mature enough yet (judging from your writings here). It is not your fault, but you are still young and may not be fully emotionally developed. I didn't graduate my nursing program until I was 30, and many people go much later in life. Get some more life experience and then decide. Good luck.

I did not have the maturity to be a nurse at your age. In my nursing programs I have been with some excellent and very together 20 somethings but at that age I just wasn't one. It would have been a train wreck for me to have forced my way through nursing school at that age. Imo nursing isn't something you can grin and bear through but I do wish you well with whatever you decide.
