I am working on a care plan, and I need help with a drug. I was getting informatioin from a chart that was very difficult to read, and I wrote down the name of the drug as Cymoxan. It is a drug for chemical dependency. The patient takes 2mg BID for chemical dependency. Obviously, I didn't decipher the writing acurately. Can anyone tell me the name of a drug used for chemical dependency that could have a similar spelling? Thanks!

What about calling the facility and asking them? Or you might try a source like WebMD to search for a med with a similar spelling used for chemical dependency.

Suboxone? The dose sounds like the right range.
Sorry just had a quick scan round the internet but can't find it.
Yes, I saw that when I looked up the drug. Scary. Makes me feel like an idiot.:smackingf Where did I even get that from? Maybe I'm going crazy.
:yeah:This drug is not in my drug book (Mosby's). A friend of mine looked in hers, and it said that this drug was for moderate-severe postoperative pain, but made no mention of chemical dependency. Is it similar to methadone? I looked on the inernet, and from what I understand, patients can also become chemically dependent on this drug, but not as dependent as they can to other opiates, so it is easier to withdraw from this medication than it is heroin, etc. Is that right, or am I making a mess of everything?
Thank you for all of your responses. I appreciate all of your help and advice.

Did you look at Suboxone.com? It is a brand name for buprenorphine. Most definitely used for opioid dependence.
