I am currently going to school to become an elemtary education teacher, but I still want to become a NP. I am currently 23 years old and feel like I am too old to try and pursue this career now. I have fibromyalgia, so I get brain fog alot and memory loss. This has really took a toll on me but im still trying to push for my dream. Are there any RN schools online for second degree choice students? Is becoming a NP very hard? Is there any way I could work both jobs once I finish?
PLEASE HELP ME!

It would not be possible to become a nurse online. Nursing involves learning hands on skills and working hundreds of hours in clinical settings. The best route is to obtain your BSN and then some nursing experience before applying to an NP program. Twenty three is not old.Brain fog and memory loss may be issues you would have to overcome. You would not be bale to work at both jobs at the same time. Best of luck.

I think lately, 23 is pretty young on the spectrum of people deciding to become a nurse. I am currently 27, and even I think that's kinda young.
I can almost guarantee that you will not be able to find a nursing program that is 100% online. You will have to do clinicals no matter what program you go through and those cannot be done online. There are programs that I have heard of that are hybrid (classroom course online but clinicals in person) but I think they are few and far between.
Your best route for NP is to go BSN -> MSN and potentially DNP or RN/ADN-->BSN--> MSN/DNP. Most programs require that you have nursing experience (at least 1-2 years) before entering the post-graduate degree programs.
What pre-requisites, if any, do you have completed? Before entrance into most nursing programs you will need to have 1-2 years of prerequisites done.
There is no way you will be able to both teach and work as a nurse schedule wise. When will you have time to do you lesson plans, grade tests, etc when you will also be working in the hospital for 12hr shifts (or 8hr shifts)? What if one shift starts/ends when the other is due to begin/end? It's really one or the other in that aspect.
