I've only taken two ATI tests so far - Fundamentals and Med/Surg but I've done well on both tests. However, our school like yours has had a lot fail those tests. My best advice is to study the ATI book more heavily than your textbook. Also, a lot of ATI tests are learning how to read the questions. Be very careful reading the questions. If you don't know the answer and the question asks what you would do FIRST, look at which answer is an assessment and pick that one. Always assess before intervening unless you were given assessment data. I used this strategy often. Try really hard not to read into the question. There are a lot of questions where they will throw extra info in there and you can start reading into the question. For me a lot of times I will have the right answer and then I'll think no, wait what if... don't do that! Go with what you think and don't add any what if's to your thinking, you can lead yourself right into a wrong answer. Final tip do as many practice questions as you can. The more you get used to reading questions the better you'll get at it.
So what if 12/40 people passed it last year? That has no determining effect on your performance. None. Right? You do understand that?
So you study the materials, completely understand the WHY of every question's correct answer, which is much more important than slaving over memorizing a list of normals (though you should know ranges), and you go do your best.

Can anyone offer any advice, pointers, or any type of help for the 2013 ati fundamentals comp exam? Anyone who has taken it was it really hard? I have read the book and taken the practice tests but im still really nervous! The previous semester students and the 9 students who are repeating the class told us that only 12/40 students passed it last semester which scares me even more! thank you!!
