my husband and i are looking at plano real estate. we are planning to move within the next two years, as the housing market in ny is still high, and the schools are not so hot. i currently work as an infusion nurse in ny, and i was wondering how the job situation is for rn's in plano. also any info about schools, neighborhoods, etc... would be great as well.

thanks,

Pay in Dallas is low. You may get surprised.

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

Football is big in Texas. Several HS teams in the DFW area are consistently rated in the top schools nationally (Plano and Allen among them).

I've just moved to the north Dallas area, and things do seem a bit more expensive up here. I've heard it's because people will pay the price, so they charge more. I do like living in a clean area, though. Lots of parks, bike trails and things like that.

Specializes in Trauma Administration/Level I Trauma.
A Plenty of work available though for nurses. Mckinney might be growing but it will never be a hotspot.

I have to disagree considering from 2000 through 2007, McKinney, Texas, was the nation's fastest -growing city. There is a reason meaning are leaving Dallas and and other suburbs such as Plano to move to McKinney.

There are many nice suburbs in the DFW area, just do some research and keep your options open. Between Dallas and Ft. Worth there are numerous hospitals to look into.

Specializes in ER,ICU,L+D,OR.

As long as there are plenty of Golf Courses, and pools, and parks around I am happy.

Be safe, find a job before you move. Economy is donw, many hospitals are cutting budget.

There are some very nice police officers in Plano as well.
