hello every one! new here!

I just wanna ask if anyone here can share thier opinion or actual experience...my situation is like this...First, I am planning to register in CRNBC this May 2008 but I have no hospital experience yet...will that make me ineliglible? I just graduated last year March 2007. I want to know this now coz the the assessment fee is $250 (so steep)non refundable. second, I am planning to get married this december, will the change of civil status be a problem in getting myself registered? how do I go about this? your thoughts please

Welcome to allnurses.com. It may help you to read the Terms of Service and Frequently Asked Questions in order for you to get the most out of your membership.

Have you read any of the other posts on this forum? There are many similar questions asked and answered. In fact, I answered one almost exactly like yours a few days ago, but it was in a PM. In part, this was my response:

"Some experience is also a requirement; they will want a reference from a Canadian employer that states you've worked as a temporary, supervised nurse. You have to remember that when you apply for a nursing position you might well be competing with others who have much greater experience than you do and in the end, the person doing the hiring will take experience over enthusiasm any day."

The other person I was replying to also has a gap between graduation and starting work in a hospital...

"If I were the person looking at your credentials, I know I would be wondering why you didn't begin working until a year after you graduated from nursing school. That would be a red flag for me, and I'm sure it would be so for others too. So the lack of experience might not prevent you from being registered by CRNBC per se, but the lack of an offer of employment due to lack of experience will. If you haven't already, you should spend some time reading the information on the CRNBC website: http://www.crnbc.ca/ but for quick reference, you can also go here:

Registering in BC: http://www.crnbc.ca/downloads/683.pdf

Temporary Registration in BC for IENs: http://www.crnbc.ca/downloads/565.pdf"

As for your marital status, it shouldn't affect your registration application but it might well affect your immigration application. CRNBC doesn't care if you're married but Immigration definitely will.

Have a look at the other posts here on the Canadian Nurses forum, look at the thread at this link: https://allnurses.com/forums/f75/must-read-international-nursing-topics-all-users-please-read-272170.html and on the Philippine Nursing forum and see what you can learn from them. then come back with whatever questions that produces.

hi janfrn! :)

tnx for the reply :)

sadly though, my canadian dream will hav to be put on hold as our lovely philippine govt has found yet another way to milk money out of its most prized citizens - Overseas foreign workers. You may hav already heard about the repatriation bond of $5000+3 months equivalent salary for direct hired workers ryt?...it realy is depressing..you'r lucky you'r not from here and under our govt.

No, tonyRN80... I hadn't heard about that yet. What a nasty thing to do! But I think we all knew that eventually they'd catch on and find a way to profit from exporting professionals. I'm not totally surprised, because Canadain governments do some rather shady and unfair things too. I'd be inetersted to know how many people this will affect and how much money the PI government stands to rake in. My sympathies...

well...i feel stupid about this...

i was a bit hasty when i wrote the comment above..sori janfrn..

it's actualy $5000 or roughly equivalent to 3 months salary for the repatriation bond...not $5000+3 months salary...i feel realy stupid hehehe....and that bond can be obtained from any insurance or surety company localy or oversees for only $35 for 1 year coverage which includes accident insurance...or $55 for a $15000 bond wid accident insurance..anyways..the additional paper work is stil there which according to them wil just be an additional 1 month to the processing time...i do hope canadian employers will not be put off by the additional red tape.
