Hi,
Just gathering information regarding hospitals in Palm Springs area. I am planning a move from the Bay area to Palm Springs.
Anyone have any experience working as an RN in the area?
What is the pay rate in Palm Springs? I know that there is a pay difference between the Bay area and Palm Springs, just how much a pay cut will it be?
In previous post, someone mentioned a test when applying at Eisenhower? What sort of test is it? Anyone have any info about it?
Thanks for all your help.

Go to the Eisenhower website for information. I absolutely adored the quality of care my family members received there. Most of the nurses seemed extremely happy, kind and compassionate. They also have a nice facility.
Palm Springs is a nice place if you can take the heat. The rate of pay is probably a few bucks less than Bay Area but your cost of living should be a bit less. I know some RN's did not like Desert Regional when they took travel assignments.
Best bet would be to sign on with a registry and have them send you down there on their dime, they pay for car, place to stay etc. You can take a 2 week assignment at a facility to get a feel for it. Ask for Eisonhower! The registry MAY have infor regarding the "test" that is required of the new employees.
Go to the Palm Springs city website for live webcams, demographics, rentals, crime and news. Good luck. Say hi to my Dad, he lives in Deep Well and really adores when my nurse buddies travel thru there.

I have been to Desert Regional Medical Center, as a visitor a few times and it is a nice hospital too. It is definately HOT there. My mom lives near Palm Springs (About 20 miles away), and it's usually over 100 in the summer months. Rent is cheaper but you pay a bundle in electricity bills. The A/C has to be going 24 hrs a day. Great shopping and lots of wrinkles.

My husband and I often visit Palm Desert about once a month. It is very hot, ESPECIALLY in the summer!! When our bro in law was admitted to Eisenhower....the nurses just seemed wonderful! I am not a nurse yet, and live in Long Beach, but will apply to the NS out there....and who knows...might move out there as well.
Good luck!
Thanks to all replies.
I will look into the registry idea.
Wish me Luck.
