Planning last pregnancy while on RN waitlist??

3rd(final) baby now or later?

My husband and I are talking about having one more baby (last baby). We have twins who will be 3 this summer. We don't want a huge age gap between the baby and the twins, and the gap will already be 3+ years as of now.

The thing is that I just got accepted to a RN program (ADN) at my community college. The wailtist for the RN program is 3 1/2 to 4 years.

I'm turning 27 this year. And when I start the program I'll be 30-31 yrs old and my twins will be 6-7 yrs. And by the time I graduate they will be 7-8yrs and I'll be 31-32yrs. I would want to secure a job and be working long enough to be eligible for FLMA, so that could add another year. So, if I wait until approximately 1 yr after graduating I'll be possibly 33 with 9yr old twins, trying to conceive. ( I do eventually plan to get my BSN.)

My question is should we plan to have our last baby while I'm waiting to get in (during that 3-4 year wait)?

So any advice or possible similar experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am confused...were you accepted into the program or were you placed on the wait list?

The fundamentals of this question is only something you can answer for yourself. There are going to be hardships either way. I never recommend ANYONE be pregnant during nursing school if there is a choice about the matter.

I was accepted into the program already, and now I'm just waiting for them to send me my letter/receive my call with my start date. I have all of my prerequisites done, so I'm just waiting for my a spot to open up. I am already guaranteed a seat in the program though and will begin the actual nursing part as soon as I'm notified.

My question was more of have start/finish my pregnancy before I even begin my program or wait until after I finish (which could be 4+ years away)? I'm looking at about 3 years before a seat opens up, so the new baby would already be born and 1yr+ old.

I appreciate your response.

Wow - talk about multi-tasking! :wideyed:

Just make sure your hubby is 100% on board & will be fully engaged partner in parenting and maintaining the house while you're in school.... none of that "I'm babysitting" stuff when he's on parent duty or "helping you out" when it's his turn to feed the kids or do laundry. Based on my own experience, you will need to give up 'ownership/authority' of all things related to household chores in order to make this happen. It can be uncomfortable, but no one's going to suffer lasting ill effects if the top of the refrigerator doesn't get dusted for a couple of years.

Heck, you managed to deal with twins - you can do this.
