Planing to move from chicago to california--help!!!

Hey,

I've been reading other posts about Cali jobs for nurses. I'm an RN with 3 years' experience and I'm planning to relocate to Cali. I was wondering what suggestions you might have regarding good areas for jobs, such as L.A., San Diego and San Francisco, San Jose/Bay Area. Would anyone have any info regarding what hospitals are hiring?

You probably aren't getting much of a response because most hospitals are not hiring right now. A lot of them bumped part time people to full time or are hiring internal applicants only. Your best bet is to stay away from the bay area, it is very difficult to get a job there. The other hospitals I would just start calling around asking.

Thanks I wish I could get a more positive answer. What about southern Cali or central valley

You may have a better chance of being hired in the Central Valley, Fresno, Visalia, Bakersfield. The pay is in general better than down south, and I know some hospitals are hiring. Just google for the hospitals, and go online to look at openings. It helps that you have experience.

I'm in inland empire (part of Southern California). There isn't any jobs in this area.

If I were you, I would have a job lined up before you move here. Even the most experienced nurses have found themselves in terrible situations due to the horrid nursing job market in most parts of the state. Now is definitely not a good time to relocate to CA.

Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach & soon to be Irvine (So. Cal) is hiring lots of experienced nurses for different units.

Thanks for the info. Is there anyone out there that has gotten a job recently? And these hospitals that are hiring new grads like ucla, are they hiring experienced nurses also. I just got my California license althogh I'm still in Chicago, hope that won't be a problem
