Hi , Im not a nurse, but had placenta previa with my 4th baby. You should really call your Dr. and see how serious it is. I had to go on bed rest because I didn't take it easy enough (and I was also told that placenta would probably move). Kind of hard to take it easy with 3 little ones in the house. I ended up hemorrhaging and having baby 4 wks early by c-section. If dr. says you need to take it easy it would be best to follow that advice instead of having a worse situation. Good luck to you, Angela
Hi, Schmoo1022.
Just wanted to let you know that I will pray for blessings for you and your baby. Placenta previa is a condition I know very, very well. Had a complete previa with my last child who is now two and a half years old. When my previa was diagnosed around four months, the doc told me pelvic rest and no lifting anything greater than twenty pounds. Once I had my first episode of bleeding, it was complete bedrest from there on out. You should definitely call your MD and clarify his recommendations to you.

Thank you both for replying. I feel kind of stupid for not asking more questions when I was in the office, being a nurse and all. But it threw me for a loop. Then when I came home and started looking online, I really freaked.
I hope both of your babies are ok! I am worried about me...but more so about my little one!

hello, schmoo1022,
please contact your ob and ask those questions. it is most important you get the answers straight from him/her. as you know we at allnurses.com cannot give you medical advice, especially in something as important as this.
i wish you well:)

Hello,
I am a Long Term care nurse expecting my second baby at the end of March.
At my 19 week U/S they noticed I have placenta previa. I was so upset I didn't ask if it was a complete previa or what. The Dr. did say that most previa this early resolve, so I am hopeful. He did put me on pelvic restrictions. My question is should I be taking it easy at work?? Like lifting and boosting residents? Also, is it ok to lift my 20 lbs. toddler?? I know I should have asked the OB these questions, but I was sort of thrown off!!
By the way, I haven't experienced any bleeding.
Thanks!
