Pinoy nurse widower fights deportation in UK

01/08/2008 | 09:16 PM

Britain is deporting the Filipino husband of a nurse who died in 2004 in what was believed to be a case of medical malpractice.

Arnel Cabrera, 38, was given until the end of February to pack his things and return to the Philippines upon completion of the inquest proceedings on the case involving the death of his wife, Mayra, 30.

Arnel is currently appealing to the Home Office to allow him to stay in England and raise his three-year-old son, Zachary. He is facing deportation because his visa was dependent on his wife working.

He should sue the Hospital and filed for damages

about the deportation im not familiar with it:(

I believe there was a malpractice case filed against the hospital.

But his visa was dependent on his wife's employment. Why should he want to remain in the UK? He has/had no job, no family support, no legal right to be there?

why shouldn't he? if not for the incompetence and negligence of the attending midwife, arnel cabrera will not be having this problem and should be settling peacefully in the U.K.

their family made a decision and embarked on a journey to settle in a foreign land to provide a better future for their children,it's not their fault that this dream was cut short because of the death of the wife.

obviously,he has no legal right to stay in the U.K. since he is on a work permit dependant visa but the Home Office should have considered his case on the merits of justice and fairness and not just legality.

i would also like to clarify that Arnel, the husband has a job and was making a positive contribution to the society before the death of his wife.unlike the US where WORK PERMIT dependants are not allowed to work, they allow them to work in the UK.

it's now pointless to discuss this anyway since Arnel Cabrera lost his appeal and has now gone back to the Philippines.
