  1. Hello shubichilipepper! I am also undergoing the training at the ust hospital and I'm telling you, it's all worth it! I was first rotated in the cardiovascular unit for 1 week, critical care unit in the 2nd week and surgical intensive care unit in my 3rd wk. I can't believe I have learned so much in a span of 3 weeks. Almost all of the patients are mechanically ventilated and we are assigned 2-3 patients per trainee. Cases include MI, CVA, post craniectomy, Guillan Barre, post ptca, patients an many others. At first I wanted to quit due to information overload :chuckle but as time passes by, I get used to it and I feel like I don't want to leave the critical care unit. I want to be assigned there forever! Right now, I am already assigned in the private division ward... and I'm already missing the thrill and excitement in providing overall patient care in the intensive care units. I love the being an intensive care unit nurse. I've already found which area I belong...yey! I hope you could also apply to their training, it's worth your while :)
  2. Hi yousushey!!! Thanks a lot for sharing this information about USTH's training program. Actually, I was able to register with them and I was there since the very first day of the seminar! I have no idea who you are among the 100+ participants, I wish I was able to thank you personally... Hope to see you on August 3! God bless you and thanks again. My bum days are over yey!:)
  3. Hi krausse, Asia Renal Care is located along Quezon Avenue, just beside the Sto. Domingo Church. The training will start on June 29, which is on Monday. You may register with them on that date but be sure that you arrived there before 8am and bring with you your resume, tor, 10K payment, and other usual credentials including IVT. I believe the orientation is on that same date also. I haven't decided yet if I will push through my registration with them on Monday because I'm still weighing my options. Some of my friends who are already working there said that there's a possibility to be hired there.
  4. Hi everyone! Does anyone here applied or is considering to undergo Dialysis Training in Asia Renal CAre? The training costs Php10,000 for 2 months. Do you have any feed backs about the training? I don't have any paid hospital experience yet but since I find it hard to apply in different hospitals, I'm considering paid trainings. Is the training worth my 10K? I'm hoping to hear your feed backs. Thanks a lot.
  5. Hi yousushey, Thanks for giving us this information. I'm very much interested in the MS training program of UST, do you think they still have available slots to accommodate 2 to 3 people? I just happened to read your post last night and I called them this morning but I was not able to get information since the nursing training office has no office today (they told me it was holiday). When will their training start? Will they provide us with certificates after that? Do you have any idea? I hope they still have slots left for me and my friend... I've been searching for weeks for different training or volunteer programs since majority of the hospitals were not hiring. I hope they can still accommodate us, I hope it's not too late my oh my. I'm hoping for your kind reply. Thanks a lot.
  6. Hi, I feel pathetic being one of the unemployed nurses here in the Philippines. You see, I graduated last March 2007, subsequently passed the June 2007 NLE with high ratings. I tried to apply to many hospitals hoping they could accept me but days, weeks and even several months went by without any of them calling me for interview . I feel insane doing nothing so I decided to review and take the NCLEX first during those times that I'm waiting for employment. I do volunteer work in a nearby hospital which also gives compensation, attended seminars and trainings while reviewing for the said exam. I took the exam last June 2008 and subsequently passed it in God's grace. I do volunteer work again and started reviewing for my Ielts and passed it just recently. :) In all those times that I'm unemployed, I see to it that I'm making use of my time to upgrade my skills and knowledge. I will not lose hope---I will again be job hunting 3 days from now. :) Wish me luck. ~~When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.~~
  7. Hi everyone, I just happen to read this news a long time ago. I feel like sharing this one to all of you though this happens a year ago. I just feel sorry for them don't know what happens after this though. Pinoy nurse widower fights deportation in UK 01/08/2008 | 09:16 PM Britain is deporting the Filipino husband of a nurse who died in 2004 in what was believed to be a case of medical malpractice. Arnel Cabrera, 38, was given until the end of February to pack his things and return to the Philippines upon completion of the inquest proceedings on the case involving the death of his wife, Mayra, 30. Arnel is currently appealing to the Home Office to allow him to stay in England and raise his three-year-old son, Zachary. He is facing deportation because his visa was dependent on his wife working. http://www.gmanews.tv/story/75781/Pinoy-nurse-widower-fights-deportation-in-UK
  8. If you plan to go to USA and nowhere else, I would suggest you go for nclex first, especially if u had just graduated and passed the local boards, it will be easier for you to review and pass, considering that your theoretical knowledge is up-to-date. After passing the NCLEX-RN, you can then take your ielts which has a 2-year validity. I know retrogression is still up in the USA now, but taking an action NOW will lessen your time of waiting to be there. Taking the NCLEX and IELTS and passing it right away is a good idea. You can start the processing of papers right after that and having your priority date as soon as possible so that by the time retrogression is lifted maybe 3-5 years from now, the time of waiting will not be that much. And throughout those years, you already have your hospital experience which will make you more qualified in the USA.^_*
  9. Hello, I would like to get an advice from you. I am very much interested to study in UK for the National Vocational Qualification, I think of considering this while waiting for the retrogression in the USA to be lifted. I already passed the NCLEX just recently and will take the IELTS this week. I only had less than 6 month experience in a secondary hospital here in the Philippines as a volunteer. I really find it hard to get a job here as a RN in Tertiarry hospital and I know being a volunteer doesn't qualify as full time experience. Do you think is it ok for me to be on a study and work program in UK while waiting for my USA visa application to be processed? I do not intend to stay in UK after finishing the 2-year course since my primary destination is US. I am about to pay the downpayment for the tuition in UK this week, its a good thing I've read the posts here, I hope someone will reply here as soon as possible because I really have to make my final decision whether to pursue this or not. :innerconf Thank you in advance.
