For pinning which for me will be May 17th. We are having it at a fancy hotel. We are suppose to dress up in our "Sunday best" so really nice but not to formal like a black tie event or anything. They will do the pinning and among my class we were suppose to vote on one person who will give a 5 minute speech to the class and the school will have various speakers. Then they will do the actual pinning and after that we will have a reception with Hot and cold Hor d'oeuvres.
For the cost of our pin, it all depended on what we want. If we want the simple gold the school paid for it. If we wanted 10K it was $65 and if we wanted 14k then it was $110. I don't have any extra money so I chose the simple gold and had the school paid for it.

I have a questions for nrselisa First off, Congrads to you! You must feel very proud. Question:
"they are not expecting everyone to graduate. I feel so sorry for those who have made it this far & don't get to graduate. "
Does that mean that the instructors do not expect certain people to pass their final exams - or is it the boards? I never understood if you had to pass your boards inorder to graduate.
Appyhorsefan: Does your name stand for Appolusa (sp?) horse? And 2 "After the pinning, the freshmen (myself included) SNA members are in charge of giving a "Sophomore Tea" where they come in and eat, gather, reminese (sp?), and just enjoy themselves. "
I have to laugh at this, because I recently read Cherry Ames Student Nurse (dated 1938 or so), wherein they talk about giving a tea for the nurses that graduated. Very old school.
Third Question : What is w/ the nightingale candle - Does any school do this?
Just wondering. And Best to all those that are graduating and good luck to us that are beginning.

Justjenn, they are expecting people to fail their finals. You actually graduate before you take the boards. :)

yes my name does stand for appaloosa horse fan. it's one of my favorite breed of horse.
secondly, this "tea" is not really a "tea". that's just the name that has been tagged to this luncheon for many years. our class has even brought it to one of the instructors to have the name changed beginning next year. she said she would have to take it to the other instructors/dean and see what happens. it's really a luncheon with a different theme each year. this year we have a "suvivor" type theme. with a wall of memories. this class took their first exam on 9-1-01 and we are placing articles of various events that have happened during their time in school.

AppyHorseFan I am soooo sorry for not spelling Appaloosa. When I was young, a girl used to have one named Equis - this horse would try and kick little boys - and men (anything wrong w/that), but loved girls.
In NJ, I was a lics. groom for standardbred race horses. Best job I ever had. My favorite horse are Freasions (sp?) Maybe, one day, when I am through w/ nursing school - I will get one. yeah, right too much $$$. I am asking for a merry-go-round horse for graduation.

jenn,
no need to apologize for the misspelling...i do it myself sometimes :) my appy mare wasn't too fond of my dad, maybe it's a breed and male issue...lol :chuckle
i hope after graduation and i get a new vehicle, pay off loans, pay off bills, etc. to one day open up a hippotherapy facility. i've got contacts who have offered to help me with the necessary paperwork for non-profit, know of a few people i can get to help volunteer, and help with acquiring additional horses.
well, i've gotten off the subject of this thread once again. i apologize to all for that. jenn, if you ever want to discuss horses further, just pm me and i'll behappy to respond.
take care all,
