Physiology Summer 2011

I will be taking Physiology over the summer in an 8-week summer session. I have an A in Anatomy, so is Physiology the more functional part of Anatomy?...How should I study for it?(is it just memorization like Anatomy). Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

@AL i have taken Anatomy & Physiology 1 & 2 and physiology is more function so it is a bit harder to just memorize. Its way better to understand it fully because the systems coincide. I made alot of flash cards, study group, see if there isnt any supplemental classes at your school those are really good . Im sorry if I am scaring you but I had a hard professor who wanted you to know everything. Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK and study hard!!

@farahtre thanks for clearing it up. I hear all the horror stories about Physiology lol. I guess its just like any other science class: STUDY, STUDY, and STUDY some more lol. They don't offer any supplemental classes at my school... I guess I'll make Flashcards and read the chapters like I've been doing in Anatomy. I will definitely get a good study group over summer as well. Thanks!

Honestly study groups are good with 3 maybe 4 people max. No more than that.

My big advice is to buy a cheap mini white board and markers. You will be rewriting pathways to learn them and what better way to help save paper?

I also recommend it for drawing too.

Also, when the teacher puts up diagrams on a projector I take a photo of it on my phone so, sit up close. Unless your teacher hands you everything, which I highly doubt given the CC's budget.

The only way to pass physio is to rewrite pathways and to draw/snapshot diagrams.

That's my advice and its how I got over 100% on the first exam.

Study, study, study and don't let yourself get behind.

Good luck

I like the white board advice.

Do you think a 6-week session A or P lab is a little much? Or do they cut out some experiments to make up for the shortened time?

Just the lab for 6 weeks? Of course that's doable. I did anatomy with lab in 6 weeks and got an A.

Physio is not offered in anything but summer due to the amount of information that we need to know.

Good luck

I apologize for the confusion. It's the course + lab combined.

Oh lol.

Yea, I bet you are more than capable of getting an A in a&p in 6weeks. You need to stay on top of everything. Make notecards, type out charts, use white board for pathways and you'll do great!

My Physio class is an 8 week session...I'm gonna devote my summer to making sure I get an A in Physio!!! I'm nervous as heck though but I know I have to put in the work and I'll be fine!!
