Need more info? What is your experience, and what type of position are you applying for?
Hi Suzan.. WB...well I'm a nurse from overseas I took the CGFNS & Toefl AND passed them..I send my resume to the recruiter agency in my country..and I wrote in my resume that I'd rather to work with cancer patients ( I'm a registered nurse with 8 yeorificexperience..3 of them in Oncology...I'm currently working in oncology department in my country). From the agency told me that a sponsor will have with a phone interview..and that sponsor ask questions related to oncology...so I dont know what they might ask me..plzz I'll wait for your msg..ty
Which country are you from? There are differences in nursing from the US in many areas. I am trying to give you specific info tailored to you, but without more info, I am at a loss to help you.
I'm from Israel
Depending on the facility where you will be interviewing, some have medical oncology units, as well as surgical oncology units. I would also recommend looking up the facility on the internet and finding out everything that you can about them, looks like you also did your homework. Ask about staffing, length of orientation, etc. Also types of patients that are on that unit.
Are they doing any type of medical trials?
They will ask what your experiences have benn. Tell them about the types of patients that you have taken care of as well as any type of trials that you have been active in.
Israel has a very good reputation in research,, as you well know, and have been on the cutting edge in many areas.
Good luck to you, let me know if you have any more questions...... :)

I don't know what they'll ask you, but you can try these to help calm yourself.
Pitch your voice slightly lower and keep reminding yourself to talk slightly slower (when people are nervous they talk too fast) when you are on the phone.
And if you smile while you talk, that also comes across.
If you are really nervous, write "Slower Lower Smile" and put that card in front of you when the call comes.
Not only will you feel calmer, you will be more understandable to your caller as well.

i also have one suggestion, when you schedule a phone interview, keep it as professional as you can on that day...what i mean is that you should find a quiet place in your house without any distractions (for example, remove as much background noise as you can by not having any kids or animals around)....sour interviews have resulted when people have been interviewed while washing dishes at the same time!
i would also suggest that you have your resume in front of you, so when the interviewer asks for your work experience, you have something to refer to for quick reference...also try not to shuffle any papers around, because the interviewer can probably hear whatever it is that you're doing..
hope these tips help!
Thank you all for your advice.
They'have already called me...I was stressed and couldn't be calm when they talked me...they asked about my experience and # of patient I care of ..and place where I prefer to work...all the interview take around 5 min.. less than 10 min???? I felt it very short..I'm not sure I did it well..at the end he told me that he will be in touch with me and I didn't have a chance even to ask questions...it was very short...does it mean he didn't find me qualified ??? I don't know how it goes with interviews..does it end with saying we'll be in touch with u..plzzzz SUZAN what do u think..why it was so short??

Was he a nurse or just from HR? Sounds like he was more interested in just checking out your English skills at this point. This happens quite frequently.
The initial call will be just to check out your language skills since you are from another country, that they may not be too familiar with the nurses from.
Please keep me posted and let me know how things go......... :balloons:

First of all, thank u for ur immediate response..He was from the HR..my spoken english isn't that good..I replied what he asked me, but I think I made some language mistakes .. I hope I spoke clearly..I was so stressed and I barely heard him..I don't know what to expect..
Could be that he was just doing the initial screening and checking your English skills. Sometimes some facilities will do that, especially if the nurse is from another country where English is not the primary language.
Did he say which dept that he was from? Was he actually a nurse or just from HR doing the initial interview?
