Specializes in Veterinarian. Have questions about the vrp.

Hi all! I'm a vet and my time in the PHMP is coming to an end. I haven't found anything about what to expect as far as this goes in PA. does anyone have an experience they can share. Haven't had any issues aside form 1-2 dilutes since I would go after the gym on some off days.

thank you I'm advance ?

You mean your monitoring time period is coming to an end?  I've heard of them doing exit interviews and you can tell them what your thoughts on this entire process was and what you are going to do now.

Other than that, I don't think there's anything else.  Congrats, after monitoring you can do whatever you want.  I hate how some monitoring agencies make ppl out to be criminals for 1-5 years.

Yeah exactly! I think my time is up if I remember based off the actual contract start date (not when they started making me check in) is either late July or early august. I was just curious about the end date details and if they stop right at the date, make me fill forms and wait, etc. I just haven't been able to find much about it online. I know once it's done it's sealed and like it never happened though haha.

It's been a lot and a long, annoying road for something stupid I did years ago and was honest about on my license application. Especially since the 4 other states I was licensed in prior as well as the DEA had no stipulation on my license, but such is life and I'm just very excited to return to a normal life!

I don't live in PA but I do have to say that the PA BON is by far the worst to deal with when trying to gain licensure by endorsement. They are just 100 times more obstinate than any other BON I had to deal with for licensure so your comment does not surprise me.

Are you allowed to say no comment on the exit evaluation or do you have to say how great it was?

Haha right? "I truly loved being told how to live my life because of something stupid from 9 years ago.  I really enjoyed paying money and waking up early to check in to see if I got selected for a UA before going to a 10 hour shift" 10/10 recommend

I have heard they close your file after 4 years in some states. Is it really over or do they still follow you for awhile?

I've heard once it's done it's done. But I haven't got a definitive answer for PA. Read a thread about how it worked in Ohio. Cause the contract says something about how they'll review my file and decide if I'm done (but having no issues other than a dilute here and there I haven't had anything come up) and I'm expected to follow the guidelines until they do finalize that. But it seems dumb to need to check in and all the stuff I've been expected to do. But I'm not 100% and hoping someone on here can shed some light

For me, once I pass the date and I did all the "requirements" I'm done.  They can't test you and can't ask you if you drank, used, etc, because the contract spells out the end date on there and we all signed it.

I understand tho, that many of us have lived like this for 1-5 years so it's odd for someone not tell us what to do!

But if any of us were to "get in trouble again" meaning like intoxicated at work, diverting etc and we get caught again, you can be sure our punishment will be worse because they have the records that we did this once already before.

So after monitoring, do what you want and enjoy life but be careful.

Hey there,

My 2 year make is in 3 days, which would be my contract end date. I'll give you some info whenever it gets here. So far I have had extra drug tests about a month out hair, special blood (not a peth something else) through a different lab than normal... then 2 urine tests. I'm hoping they call me tomorrow and let me go 2 days early we shall see. I'm in Fl

Hey there,

I'm not in the same state as you but I finished my 2 year contract last week. I finished on the EXACT day I signed the contract 2 years ago. Others in my group got out 4-5 days early but that's the earliest I saw. About a month out I did a hair test and blood test through a 3rd party (not my typical lab) then I had 2 other urine drug screens at my lab. Those 5 tests were in the span of about a month. On the last day I got a call from the admin person who asked me some very basic questions about my experience. She then said she would be sending a letter of completion in the mail and I got a copy by email. Once I got the copy I deleted the app and that was it.

The entire exit process in my program was very informal compared to the beginning. Other people need exit evaluations from an evaluator who gives their blessing to be finished, this was not a requirement for me personally. Hope this helps, you're almost there!!! There is a light at the tunnel, I know all to well now that I'm free!
