Phillips School at Mount Sinai Fall 2018 ABSN

Published

Hi everyone! Just thought I would make a forum for those going to Mt Sinai's ABSN in Fall of 2018. I am so excited to get going and meet everyone!

Best- Kat

Hey Kat! Congrats on your acceptance :) If you don't mind me asking - is this the only school you applied to? I'm between LIU Brooklyn and PSON right now but i'm leaning towards PSON!

Hey! Yeah so I also applied to NYU but I went with PSON because I've heard from a few doctors that I work with that PSON has the best connections with hospitals in NYC.

When and how did you hear back from the program?

I received an email from Maria Gallo last Friday

Hi everyone! I have also been accepted and will most likely be attending PSON in the fall! The only pre-req course that I am missing is Math for Medications and I know that PSON offers it during the summer semester. Is anyone planning to take this course over the summer--and if so, where? If any community colleges in NYC offer it, I would definitely prefer to take it there since it'll likely be a lot cheaper. Also, I am working full-time now, but am leaning towards quitting my job before starting the program. Are any of you planning to work and be in school during the fall? Looking forward to meeting you all soon!!

Hey there, congrats! I'm taking Math for Medications at Cayuga Community College online. It is only going to cost around $200 because it is only one credit, and I checked with Maria to make sure that is accepted. I'm so excited to meet everyone too!

Thank you! Congrats to you too! And thank you so much for the info about Cayuga CC; I'll definitely look into that option. I also see that Erie Community College offers a "Math of Dosage" online course during the summer, so I'll reach out to Mrs. Gallo about this option as well.

Wow I am such a ditz. I'm taking it at Erie, that's the one I cleared with Maria. Cayuga used to have one I'm pretty sure but not anymore! I did so much research on it I can't keep track haha

Hi I heard if you take Math for Medications at another school you have to take a challenge test and obtain a 100% Iam also working full time iam thinking about quitting as well. I really thought they had an evening program.

That's good to know...thank you. I recall them saying during one of the open houses that working (part-time) is only manageable during the first semester when there are no clinicals; it will not be feasible later.

Hey guys!! I have also been accepted to PSON. I am nervous about this program because there is not much information that's available about it. Looking forward to meeting you all!

@Katboyce14 Hey! I would also have to take Math for Medications course. Do you mind sharing the actual course name at Cayuga CC. I was thinking of taking that course at BMCC but it's a 3 credit course which will cost a lot.

Anyone else here have to take Ethics course or know a college that offers that course online? Thank you
