My advice to you in order to make it through this, start early making connections with classmates. Most of the cohorts have a WhatsApp so everyone in the class can communicate. Talk to each other, make friends. I promise you, you will need each other. If you have the capacity to help out a classmate who needs help in a specific subject, do it. It will come back to you tenfold- even if it is the form of emotional/mental support. You are about to start a journey with a group of complete strangers. In 15 months those strangers will be family. They will know more about you than you even knew about yourself. Even the most stoic & guarded individuals break under continuous mental stress & sleep deprivation. I saw 95% of my classmates openly cry at some point.
Know that not everyone will graduate, people fail out of the program often. Most classes lose about 10-20 ppl (I say that not to discourage you but to let you know they do not play nor have mercy). You can file an appeal but I've never seen anyone actually win an appeal. - You have to make this program #1
The first semester is the easiest, use that semester to get ahead of the game. If you have a job, try and make plans to not work by summer semester, it is very hard to juggle even 1 day of work and school at that point.
Talk to other cohorts ahead of you. Introduce yourself to a random person in the hall, tell them you are new- they will help you b/c they know what you are going through. Most importantly, be aware of your mental and physical health through this program. Talk to someone if things feel overwhelming. You can’t help anyone if you don't take care of yourself. I wish you the best of luck Hopefully, your experience will be different than mine. On a positive note, if professor Dixon is still there she will be your program lead (she is awesome).
