Honestly a lot too much to text. If you want DM them on IG to ask whatever questions you have

I just graduated from PSON and if I could go back and pick a different school, I would. It was honestly one of the worst experiences I have ever had. The school is so disorganized. So many outrageous fees, and they make the rules up as they go. There is no transparency whatsoever. Students are not allowed to see final exams (40% of final grade) so professors have the power to pass and fail whomever they like. The professors are constantly leaving or getting fired. All and all, a very toxic environment and unhappy place. I made it through but it was honestly the worst 15 months of my life. I am now $50k in-debt when I could have went to a regulated state-funded school for half the price. This lines of academic integrity at the school are severely blurred. I heard the school used to be good before Mount Sinai took over but now it is horrible.

I have applied and now Im just waiting. Its very difficult to find any feedback from students! I was hoping there would be an open house this spring.. I haven't seen anything posted. Fingers crossed and best of luck to all of those applying!

Ms. Gallo is one of the nicest people at the school but, be very aware that the red flags you see with the application process continue. Not only do they continue, they get worse make your life miserable in the end. I was a student there. I wish I would have known then what I know now. I don’t want to discourage anyone from following their dream of pursuing a nursing degree, but there are much better schools for a much lower price.

Yes, you will pass the NCLEX because they don’t allow you to take the NCLEX until you pass HESI (which is harder than NCLEX). Some people I graduated with still are not released by the school to take the NCLEX. Nursing school is hard already, no one expects it to be easy but the level of drama this school brings is on another level. It is unprofessional and shady. The school is “messy” but they make excuses for that while still holding the students to a super high level of accountability. I have nursing friends at Hunter, BMCC, Rutgers, and NYU the nursing program has been much better for them. They did not have to drama that followed our Cohort and that still exists at PSON today. Reach out to others you see on social media who are existing students at PSON, they will likely tell you the same.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Its really unfortunate things went south. Some of us are at the point of no return at this point +_+

If you could give those of us starting soon any advice or things to watch for- what would they be?

My advice to you in order to make it through this, start early making connections with classmates. Most of the cohorts have a WhatsApp so everyone in the class can communicate. Talk to each other, make friends. I promise you, you will need each other. If you have the capacity to help out a classmate who needs help in a specific subject, do it. It will come back to you tenfold- even if it is the form of emotional/mental support. You are about to start a journey with a group of complete strangers. In 15 months those strangers will be family. They will know more about you than you even knew about yourself. Even the most stoic & guarded individuals break under continuous mental stress & sleep deprivation. I saw 95% of my classmates openly cry at some point.

Know that not everyone will graduate, people fail out of the program often. Most classes lose about 10-20 ppl (I say that not to discourage you but to let you know they do not play nor have mercy). You can file an appeal but I've never seen anyone actually win an appeal. - You have to make this program #1

The first semester is the easiest, use that semester to get ahead of the game. If you have a job, try and make plans to not work by summer semester, it is very hard to juggle even 1 day of work and school at that point.

Talk to other cohorts ahead of you. Introduce yourself to a random person in the hall, tell them you are new- they will help you b/c they know what you are going through. Most importantly, be aware of your mental and physical health through this program. Talk to someone if things feel overwhelming. You can’t help anyone if you don't take care of yourself. I wish you the best of luck Hopefully, your experience will be different than mine. On a positive note, if professor Dixon is still there she will be your program lead (she is awesome).
