does this mean i need to have hospital experience as a RN? i don't get it... I'm a newbie.. I just passed the Nov 09 NLE... can i have this training?! pls answer me people... looking forward for your responses... God Bless!
I was a previous staff of PGH.. and they don't require previous experience.. BUT, for those who didn't have RN experience 5 years after their graduation... they would have to undergo the Observership program.. this is for those who didn't practice their nursing skills right after their graduation..
Meanwhile, for those who are newbies.. their is no problem.. you just have to waith though.. because of the thousands of applicants lined up to enter PGH.. when I mean hundreds, I mean hundreds!
APCN is for those who wants to acquire nursing knowledge and skills for a fee.. those who find that their RLE back when they were in college insufficient.. also, some join this program just to kill time.. it is for 6 months.. the first 3 months is for general wards, while the next 3 months will be the choice of the trainee (special units like SICU, CENICU, PICU, cardiac cath lab, renal unit, NSSCU, Neuro ICU, Neonatal ICU, MICU, Burn Unit etc.).. their are also classroom lectures and seminars included in the program.. this program is very helpful.. I have preceptored a couple of APCN trainees and I really let them experience the culture of PGH.. BUT, this is for first come first serve basis!
yes it is an Emergency Room Volunteer Program under UP Pahinungod - PGH Department of Emergency Medicine. You should complete 100 hours in 3 months. If you're interested I suggest you go to PGH and inquire. I heard even non-allied health courses graduates can also volunteer...
Is this for 3 months only?

you are required to complete the 100 volunteer hours in a span of 3 months.. you know what.. back when I was still a volunteer.. they only require us to complete the 100 hours for 1 month only.. upong completion of the 100 hours, you are now qualified as a level 2 volunteer..

I see. I didn't know that there were levels of volunteer. What is the difference between level 1 and level 2 volunteer?

No requirements are needed.. it is FREE.. you just have to fill-up an application form.. I think their is a t-shirt for Pahinungod volunteers.. it is not compulsary though.. back then it was around 100 pesos only.. I am not sure if it has increased.. then you have to provide an ID picture (I am not sure with the size) for the Pahinungod ID.. and that's it.. NO other requirements are needed.. :)
