Philadelphia Unionized Hospitals

Published

Hi,

I was just curious which large teaching hospitals in downtown Philly are unionized? How difficult is it for someone to apply and get in? I just finished a certified nurse aide program and have my CNA and CPR cert. I would like to get into one of the big hospitals downtown (TJU, CHOP, UofP). Does anybody have any info on these hospitals? Insight???

Thanks,

S

Hmmm.. Good question. Well we all know MCP is. I don't know about the other Tenet hospitals. HUP isn't,Pennsy isn't. I don't think CHOP is either. Good luck!

I believe Temple is union, as is Chester-Crozer (just south of the city off of I-95). However, most hospitals are NOT unionized-surprising to me since Philly is very much a Democratic, "working class" city. Go figure :)

I work for a nursing home in Chester County and I have been through a training course and waiting for the certification to be scheduled. It took me 2 weeks for the training class then I was in orienting on the floor for another 4 weeks.
