Phil RN who wishes to work in Australia

Published

Good day Everyone!! :)

I'm a Registered Nurse from the Philippines and I wish to work as a nurse in Victoria or Queensland, Australia. I know there's a need for me to undergo with a bridging course or conversion program in order for me to become a registered nurse in these states. I hope to know what are the requirement from them for me to have the eligibility to take the course or program from any nursing schools or universities in these areas? What will be my possible actions to become a registered nurse in Australia?

Hoping for a good response and tip,

Hi alchemy,

You can visit the AHPRA website if you wish to take the bridging pathway. If you wish to take the conversion path, I suggest you look up universities online. I applied to UQ, and I just received their offer 2 days ago. The tuition is expensive, so I'm still undecided about accepting the offer. I have to decide soon though since the slots for the program are limited. *panic mode*

@giacen_17 : Thank you for the link you have given me.

@_carla_: I was also thinking of applying in UQ. Did you do it on your own? How long did it take you to wait for their response? Have they granted you the 1 year course?

I applied through IDP, but I'm sure you can do it on your own. I just received the offer letter for the one year program a couple of days ago. It took them 2 months and 11 days to be exact to assess my documents. =)

@_carla_: In your application for UQ, did you have the eligibility reference from the board of nursing?

No need. I just applied directly to the university.=)

All right, it's a bit clear to me now. Thank you very much carla.

If I may ask, how much is the total costs for your one year course?

It's close to 23k. Add to that the living expenses every month. Very steep!

Whoa! Lofty indeed. tsk2x
