PHCC Fall 2014 hopefuls!

Published

I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!

Specializes in LPN.

LPN for 8 years and needing to get my RN so I applied for transition hopefully at the NPR campus because I think it's so nice and beautiful up there. TEAS were 77.3, Pre-Req GPA 3.0. Non resident. I hope I get in. I need this.

Welcome to our madness, Risky - good luck!

Hello everyone! I've been following along too! I have a 3.8 GPA and an 86.7 % on my teas. I eventually want to be a NP :)

Also I'm applying for generic RN.

Hi Stephen - welcome! What campus were you hoping to get into?

Good luck!

Jupiter - I was going to calculate Stephen and Risky's stats but I think I'm doing it wrong because I keep coming up with different numbers than what you have....my numbers are actually coming out lower. Help a math stoopy out...what am I doing wrong?

Honestly as long as I get into a campus I'm happy. I guess i would prefer west then dade city.

My fiancé graduates LPN in a month and we are getting married in soon. So it depends on where she gets a job and which campus I get to decide where to live

That's wonderful - congrats! Hopefully we get our letters this week. It's sucks not knowing what to plan ahead for. Have you worked in the medical field?

Nope, but I have a passion for helping the hurt and sick. My father was a paramedic and I find anatomy and physiology so fascinating. I know this is the calling God has for me :)

Specializes in LPN.

My brother is an RN at Florida Hospital fletcher and he said they let go all the LPNs and I can't find a single place to get hired on as an LPN at the moment. I have about a dozen connections for jobs but the only thing holding me back is RN status.

Also, I noticed that it's mostly females here so I'm in the minority as a male nurse. I also noticed that PHSC has almost ALL females as the student body. :woot:

If you don't mind, How are you doing the math? It seems like you're just finding the average of GPA and and teas? But I think it's (GPA)(25)(.5)+ (teas x .45) + 5. That way GPA ends up in a percent like 4.0 x 25 = 100% x .5 = 50%. Then 100 on a teas x .45 gives 45 % plus 5 makes 100.

I hope I'm not sounding rude
