PHCC Fall 2014 hopefuls!

Published

I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!

Just a reminder that we do have a private facebook group set up - if you all would like to join, pm me your email address and I'll send you an invite this way you dont have to necessarily be "friends" with someone on facebook to join the group and you can keep your private and professional life separate ;)

Congratulations again to all that made it through!

It's absolutely insane how much junk we have to do to reserve a seat. I got my packet Monday. Just got my titers done. Hopefully I don't need any more vaccines.

I just went to my primary care office. He gave me a tetorifice shot cause I hadn't had one since '03. I got titers done for the rest so hopefully I won't need any more vaccinations either. The rest of my shot record is at the health department and I can take my paperwork from my primary care to them and they can combine them.

Agreed - It can be time consuming & confusing...pay attention to all the steps you need to do for the background check, fingerprinting, and drug screen. Also, FYI - you are allowed to take CPR at an earlier date if you dont want to stay after orientation - just make sure it is a CPR course *at* PHSC.

I spoke to the nursing department today. If you get your titers done and find that you need more immunizations you can document the first and document the appointment you have set for the next and it will be sufficient to reserve your seat. I would recommend you avoid the health department for titers. I went there and was told results can take up to 3 weeks to come back which could result in an incomplete packet entry. I went to quest diagnostics and was told results would be ready in 7 days. Of course you need a script from a physician to get the test.

Thank you for the info...I was wondering what would happen if we were to need a new series of vaccinations.

who else is doing lpn at the west campus? i havent received my packet yet

In regards to the pasco county health dept and titers, it takes a week, at MOST two weeks, to get the titer results back. So I wouldn't count them out. I don't have insurance either so I hope this helps those that don't, as it's MUCH cheaper there.

tmv im at west campus lpn. I got my packet. I went to doctors walk in clinic today you can get all titers there and a physical and tetorifice and PPD. It's expensive though, 405.00 dollars. Does anybody know where i can get a flu shot?

They said you don't have to worry about flu shot until after September when it's flu season.
