I always would study drug classes and that would help. That along with flashcards.

I am trying to do that it works for some like (Benzos) but for others it dont because they dont all end with the same letters. I have 7 chapters studying and I cannot seems to retain most of the drugs that apply to the system.

I made note cards and also recorded them so I could listen in the car, when I was running etc.

At first it's rote memorization. At least for me.

When I was in school I was in absolute awe of my instructors and nurses I shadowed that could recite what specific medications were for.

Then after working as a nurse and passing those meds day after day-- of course it came as second nature to know medication names, indications, standard doses, side effects, and which meds indicate frequent monitoring or pairing with another med (eg: if I get in report that a pt is on 40meq of lasix, I will ask "how much K+?" or if a pt is on warfarin to ask what the most recent INR is)
