 I am on a waiting list for an ADN program and need some advice...I have a friend who has worked for a major drug manufacturer and is very intelligent as far as chemistry, anatomy, and physiology. She has offered to start a study group for me and a few friends this summer. Since I am still waiting to get into the program I need the mental stimulation and thought we should start studying our Pharmacology since this course is only open if you are in the program. I went to the bookstore and got the books that are required. If this turns out well could anyone suggest the next subject that it would be best to pre-learn before I get into the program.....Any advice would be helpful...Thank you for your help..:caduceus: :roll
Specializes in Urgent Care.

If you have finished A&P, Fundamentals would be a good self-study book to review. Going over how to do vitals, different procedures and such.

Thank you for your help. I have taken Anatomy, Physiology, and Chemistry. I did well in these classes and continue to read my Physiology book because I find it interesting..

Personally, I would just enjoy my free time!

You seem intelligent, you probably don't need to pre study to succeed. Since you love Phys you should be OK. I love Phys also (I tutored too) and it has been valuable in my nursing classes.

Read some good books, enjoy working out, enjoy your hobbies, you lose the time to pursue these things once nursing school starts.

Great advice....Sometimes I do work too hard....I am going to have a minimum of a year wait and possibly two....While I will take your advice and relax, I know I will get bored and need something to study. I do not want to get burned out before I even start and will take some time. This next semester I am only taking one class and that will afford me some meeeeee time. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond and for your great advice.THanks for the imput on the tutoring also. I thought it might be useful and help to keep the information in the long term, plus I do like helping other students..

Nothing will impress your teachers more than your confidence with patients and basic nursing procedures. Get a job as a CNA or tech and start working in the hospitals.
