Currently a Pharmacy Tech working in a distribution pharmacy and looking into going to school to be an LPN as my main goal is to be a nurse. Only problem is I'm looking to relocate to Florida within the next year so I don't know if I should wait to start LPN school until I move to FL and wait another year to be considered in-state for cheap tuition or hold off on the move and be stuck here in IL (which I so hate) and do the LPN program here and transfer it. What would be the easiest? Looking for some advice before I go investing any money into furthering my education.
LPNStudentDR, I just searched information about transferring an LPN license to FL and it looks like they require you to work in the state you were licensed for 2 years and have 24 CEUs completed plus other documents. It seems rigorous to transfer my license as I plan to be relocated by next Summer.
Wow Pharm Techs!!!!! And I was just looking at the LoooooooooNG list of drugs and all the implications and wondering... HOW do we eat this elephant!????!!!
Does Pharm Tech mean you KNOW all the drug stuff already? What study tips can you give us drug-novices?
I am still learning things because I just started about a month ago, but I do have 26 names memorized just by handling them and counting (repetition is key for me). Now I just need to start getting the usages down, I also know how to read scripts and the directions on them like if a script says Ipobid I know that means take 1 (I) by mouth(po) twice a day(bid). But as they stated before, the suffixes do help, here is a website that may help with those The Student Nurse: MEDICATION SUFFIXES

Thanks, DivaLaJuicy and GarnetGirl29. Will definitely look into taking pre-reqs for RN as well if I by chance get wait listed at the school of choice in FL.
