I just got my acceptance into the nursing program at MC:D, but I have also petitioned for PGCC. I would like to get info from past students from both schools to help me make my decision if I do get accepted into PGCC as well. Any info you have would be great concerning the staff, clinical sites, experience, how prepare you were at graduation, etc. Thanks!

Go with whatever county you're in (cost). Other than that, MC hands down. I haven't checked lately but look at their graduation stats. I'm certain MC is still and will always be higher for some reason.

I am in PGCC and I would say them. The faculty is excellent and very helpful. I haven't heard much about MC except that their Radiology program is good.

Congratulations on getting into MC!
I wouldn't let cost be the deciding factor as to whether you go to MC or PGCC. Although I live in PG County, I have chosen to attend Howard CC. I currently pay in-county tuition for prereqs and the RN program under their Health Manpower Shortage Program. Nursing is one of those programs that has been designated by the Maryland Higher Education Commission as a statewide health manpower shortage program. Students who reside outside of a County but within the state of Maryland may be eligible for tuition adjustment to the in-county fee.
Here's info on MC...not too sure about PGCC:

I go to PG and I just finished my first semester and I loved it! The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. Good luck in whatever you decide, I actually saw where MC was at and that's to much of a drive for me. PG is actually ten minutes from my house and I did all of my pre reqs there. It's a great school.

Hi. I already hold a Bachelors degree and have completed all of my pre-reqs. Do you know how long will the ADN be?

2 years I believe. I think Howard Community College has an 18 month accelerated program though.

Cost doesn't matter due to the MD manpower shortage act healthcare supplement. You pay the same as an in-county student. Factor in your commute and possible hospitals you may have to commute to.
I am in my third semester at PGCC, and have really enjoyed myself so far. Every instructor has 20+ (and some 40+) years of experience. They all hold MSN's obiously, but many also are specialty nurses, and are working on PhDs. We go to good hospitals, Anne Arundel, Childrens, National Rehab, Washington Hospital Center, etc. I have always had very knowledgeable clinical instructors. I'v met many recent grads at local hospitals on rotation. I definitely feel that I am getting a good education, but I also think it's a lot of what you put into it.
It's a competitive program, so I might go with the one you are already in.

I just graduated from PGCC :yeah::yeah:i really loved it...i would do it allover again. Clinicals are great, lectures are great and all the instructors are either Nrs Practitioners for many years or PhD degree holders...
