PGCC Nurse Petitioner

Hello fellow nursing students. I recently moved to Maryland and have just enrolled in the Nursing 1010 class at PGCC and I am extremely nervous about the process. I wanted to know if anyone had any insight on what it takes to get in the nursing program at Prince George Community College (EX. Teas score, GPA) . I have heard that the program is very competitive. Also is there anyone else petitioning for Spring 2016?

What is a "nurse petitioner"? Who is being petitioned...and for what?

At my school you have to "petition" or apply for a slot in the nursing program . It is basically the process of obtaining a seat in the program.

I am petitioning for Pgcc Spring 2016! I know too be even considered you HAVE to get at 41%individual adjusted score and at a 69% I think in reading to be more competitive you need to be over 65%!

Hi RangyN! Thanks for replying. Nice to meet another petitioning student. How has your process been so far? Are you currently in nursing1010 as well? We will be the first class the Teas is required as a criteria for admission so I wonder how that will affect the GPA requirement. It states that to be considered you have to have a 2.5 GPA and get at least a 65 teas but due to it only being 80 seats, I can't imagine that being true.

Yes I am in Nur 1010.. I think the Teas will greatly dwindle down the number of petitioners that will be qualified.. Considering we are the first batch that had to do it and I feel that didn't really prepare the students for it so not many were able to study like they would have had they know in more advance notice.. I didn't know until like 2 weeks prior.. I think I scored ok.. Not the best.. But if I don't make it which will crush me lol.. I know I need to study the Teas.. My gpa is 3.8 I have gotten all A except in BIO 2069.. I got a B! My teas was a 74.

I have to take NUR 1010 this spring, and I am kind of nervouse because I hate the TEAS, and I only have a 3.44 gpa for the pre reqs

How did it go? I'm a first semester Nursing student at PGCC now :) I petitioned Spring 2016 as well
