Petition vs. Change of Status

Published

Please be aware that when the new requirements came out, you will now have to have a Visa Screen Certificate attached to your Change of Status application, if you went to the US on an tourist or F-1 Visa. So for those of you that are going over and hoping to get a job right away, you must have your English exams completed, as well as CGFNS or NCLEX. It takes approximately four months to get the Certificate, and another 90 days to get your EAD letter. So whoever promises you different, sorry............. :uhoh3:

If you take your exams and do things in proper order, and remain in your country until the proper time, then you just need the Visa Screen Certificate when you go for your interview at the US Embassy. Things will go much smoother you for this way.

Trying to live in the US for minimum of seven months without any type of income coming in is almost impossible. If you get caught working illegally, you can wave good bye to getting that green card.

Hope that this helps clear up any questions that you have. I have been getting quite a few PMs pertaining to this....................

Beginning in January, 2005, NCLEX will be available in London, Seoul, and Hong Kong. Get your English exams done before then, take the exam, and then you are all set.

Good luck........................ :balloons:

This answers my query re AOS. Ive found other similar posts too, thank you!!!

Another concern: is it possible to have the interview in the US for the immigrant visa rather than in my country?

If you are working here with the EAD, then you will have your interview here, in the US.
