Pertussis vaccine

I am an RN who works doing Quality for an Insurance Company so I haven't been subjected to needing a million boosters of vaccines. However I am now going to become a Grandmom for the first time and need to get a Pertussis vaccine. Here is my problem....I cannot find Pertussis by itself in the U.S. It is included in the TDap vaccine. I am severely allergic to tetorifice. I'm probably going to get the Pertussis titer drawn but we all know my luck will be that I am not immune anymore.

Does anyone have any idea whether or not Pertussis vaccine is made by itself or even with the Diptheria but NOT the tetorifice?

I have never heard of it being by itself. Maybe ask your physician what to do in this instance. Do you know when the last time you had it?

I asked one of my doctors the last time I had to get it and was told that it's not available separately.

How do you know about your "severe allergy", especially "tetorifice" in particular? Did you consult a specialist? I ask that because it is in fact pertussis component of combination vaccines, especially whole-cellular one, which is responsible for most of severe reactions. Unless you had an anaphylaxis- level reaction, an allergologist might suggest a plan for you, like changing vaccine or premedication (although I should advice about getting second opinion because doctors who know vaccines for real are surprisingly difficult to find).

I made a run over vaccines used in and outside of the USA and it seems to be that there are no licensed vaccines without tetorifice component available in any developed country. Even China and India moved to combinations.
