I work in the NICU and I have been trying to find a needle free device that can be used to access a PAL with the 3 drop method. Is anyone using such a device? I have searched a number of the med supply companies but have not discovered anything as of yet. Any ideas? Any new techniques that have been tried?
Thanks!

I've never heard of a 3-gtt needleless device, but I've used BioPort, a closed draw system for neonates (UACs and Alines) for a while. They were a pain to prime, but easy to use.
Steve RN21 -- Thanks. I tried to google Bioport but did not get a good hit. Do you have any details about this product? Or a website?

We use a plastic device that goes right into the hub, I'll get the exact name of it. I want to say Intramedic, but not sure if that's it.
I found the manufacturer. It's made by Biosensors International. I couldn't find the neonatal-specific one we used though.... sorry!

We stopped doing the gtt method...we have totally closed systems now. We rarely have a problem drawing back PAL's...we go very slowly.
