I am wondering that is working double we got paid double too or what? I really confuse right now. is it per-diem and full time get paid for double shift differently?

The additional $2.50 per hour might be a weekend shift differential.

The $2.50 was the shift differential? If you don't work more than 40 hours in a week, they don't have to pay you time and a half past 8 hours a day. I work 12's and don't get time and a half for hours after 8, but we do get a differential for evening, weekends, or nights. Double shift is just more hours, not more pay if you are per diem. If you are full time, have put in your 40 hours, and take an extra shift, then you would be paid time and a half, as it is overtime. Maybe some travellers have in their contracts a double time option, but I haven't heard of it other than some places for working Christmas. Double shifts don't mean double pay, or unfortunetely, as a per diem, even time and a half unless you are a per diem getting called in every day.
