Hey everyone,
New to the boards and just took the NCLEX yesterday and of course, the wait is getting the best of me. I had 75 questions and the test took me about an hour and 15 minutes... I was the second to go in and the first to be finished.... When I came out of the test the guy who fingerprinted me and was watching over those who took the exam said, "Well that was pretty quick" and nervously I said, well... I guess I'll find out if it was good or not! and he said to me... "It's usually a good sign"... I was told that they know right then and there at the test center if you passed or failed... was he trying to give me a hint???
Oops... forgot to add, that when he said that it was a good sign usually... I Said, (so stinkin excitedly... ) really!? and he shook his head and smiled and was like, "yeah... " very confidently and nicely...
Maybe I'm just trying to ease myself but I was just wondering if anyone had heard that they knew right away once you are finished testing?

It is hard for them to say anything as the results are usually rechecked. Also they can loose their job for saying anything

So they do know?! I also was one of the last ones in, first ones finished with 75. I was very confident that I had passed and both people at the testing center, the one observing and the one checking people in both acted like I had passed also. I just figured they thought like I did that by getting the minimum surely I didn't do so bad that I didn't get more questions to try. Very interesting!

if this is the case... my guy did not look happy! UH OH!
They may have an idea but really they are second checked and we have seen posts similar and the results was opposite to what they thought they had by what the testing center employer indicated. To be honest the best thing is forget about it and relax whilst waiting for the results either from BON/BRN or quick results from pearsonvue if the state participates
Maybe he was having a bad day. I wouldn't read too much into it. Keep us posted. Fingers crossed for you.

Katie-
I had almost the same exact convo as you w/the guy who fingerprinted me. I only had 75 questions and as the guy was fingerprinting after I was done and he made a comment about how quick I took the exam and told me it was usually a good sign that I only had 75 questions. Well the next day I found out I passed!
Who knows for sure if they know, but I did get the impression that they do have an idea!

Sorry, but they do not have access to your exam. They are basing their assumption only on the time that it took you to test. Nothing more than that. They are there as proctors only. They work at the testing center only and have nothing to do with what is submitted on your exam, or even how you did on it.
And the fact that 85% pass the first time.
Would not read anything into it.

Sorry to say that the person that spoke to me after I came out of the testing room also told me that it was a "good sign" to have 75 questions and unfortunately I failed...Don't give up! They don't know and YOU don't know right now so just keep good thoughts and hang in there until you get your Pearson or BON official results.
Thought I'd update on my own post! I passed! I found out yesterday! What a great feeling. It was probably coincidence about what the guy at the test place said, but whoo hoo! I'm an RN!
Congratulations :)
