Philly area safety

I am going to be moving to the Philly area. I was wondering about some safety issues for some of the hospitals. Does anybody have any information about Einstein in particular? Thanks in advance.

Area around Einstein having greater that it's share of shootings in the news these days. Son worked daytime nearby x 6 months last year without problems. Parking garage next to hospital. Inquire of Security department re safety statistics good idea.

Specializes in ICU, ER.

Don't even think of working there, especially nights or evenings.

It all depends on your level of self confidence and your street smarts. If you can take care of yourself (and what good nurse can't, most of the time?), then you should consider it. I lived in an absolutely horrendous neighborhood for over a year, and learned to ignore the verbal harassment, and carried myself so that nobody bothered me (I don't weigh enough to donate blood - it is all in the attitude!). Now that I live in a much better part of the city, my street smarts have faded and I get anxious when I'm somewhere that is less than ideal.

If the job is really interesting to you, then I suggest that you talk to some people who work at the hospital and see how they handle their safety concerns. I wouldn't discount it just because the neighborhood is dicey.

Best of luck to you,
