Jefferson's BSN or APW Students or Grads?

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Anyone out there a student or recent graduate of Thomas Jefferson's BSN or Accelerated Pathway BSN/MSN program? Do you like the program? Do you feel it's worth the tuition? (One of my other choices for a school is my much cheaper community college, but then I'd have an RN and not my BSN when done.) Do you have a spare moment of time for yourself? :lol2:

I'm mainly interested in the 2-year program and not FACT. I already have a bachelor's degree, but like the option of taking 2 years to do the BSN, instead of the hyperspeed FACT. :)

Any and all experiences, positive and negative, would be of interest.

Thanks!

Well, I did get in to Jefferson's APW program. :)

I was wondering how you make yourself "stand out" when your classes have 120+ students in them? I am spoiled -- my current pre-req classes have 25 students max. All my profs know me. I know clinicals at Jeff only have a small number of students assigned to each professor, which is nice, but clinicals (according to a current student I spoke with) are only pass/fail. I'm not looking to be the teacher's pet, but I don't want to be totally anonymous, either!

Oh! I think you do not need to worry too much with standing out from the rest of the class. Despite my class is large, my professors know my name despite I have not introduced myself formally to them all in the beginning.

Congratulations on your acceptance!

Thanks! I must say Jeff started "pouring on the love" the moment I got accepted! LOL! I had a Jeff website login ID within 10 hours, and I've gotten all kinds of welcome letters and letters inviting me to various seminars. And everyone I meet is incredibly nice. I met Susan M--- the head of Financial Aid, and she is a warm, bubbly person. That's a relief! I'll probably need her assistance.

Woo hoo! September is coming fast! :uhoh3:

Enjoy this time off before school starts while you can! And no matter how many students they have in class, most professors somehow know all of us.. well the good teachers anyway. Good Luck and Congrats on getting in.. I am done in MAY and can't wait to get out!! :yeah:

It's good to hear from someone who is almost done!! Congratulations! Do you have a job lined up? Is Jefferson helpful in finding a job?

Yes I do have a Job already. I am a scholarship kid so we get job offers first since they have to place us first before hiring anyone else since we have to work for Jeff. So I really didn't go through the school much for assistance. I know they have a resource center for resume writing and they do mock interviews, I myself have never been there but I have heard good things about it. Also, they hold job fairs I believe once a semester so going to them is always fun and pretty much every hospital is there. If you have any other questions PM me if you want.

Thank you! And congratulations on your scholarship! How great that you don't have to stress about finding a job! :)

I have a question for those who've been through the program. In Semester 1, do you have 16 or 24 hours of clinicals per week, once you finish your 4 weeks of lab? I thought it was 16 hours per week. Today I got a packet from the nursing program -- on two pages it said 24 hours clinical per week, but on another page it said 16 hours per week. When I emailed the admin. assistant for the program, she said it is 24 hours per week. I thought only FACT students did 24 hours per week clinicals, or is the first semester different?

Thanks for anyone who can answer!

APW Program (Semester 1) - We had two clinical days per week after the first four weeks of lab time. Unless there is a change, it should be 16 hours.

Thanks -- that's what I thought. Well, I guess I'll get the scoop at orientation. I cannot believe how slow Financial Aid has been. I called today to inquire about my f/a application. It's still "in process". Since mid-March!!!

Yes, they can be slow with completing the paperwork. I finally received my financial aid information this week and I'm a senior. If they are still working on completing the senior year nursing students information, I am guessing you may not receive your information until next month.
